I had the same question. I called up my Embassy(Kenyan Embassy in Ottawa) and had a chat with the Immigration Officer. He told me that Kenya does not keep Travel Records, and even if they do, they do not give public access to those. So I called up CIC and shared this with them. They said, as long as we can write a letter sharing exactly that information, we should be good.

I can share my letter with you guys when I write it.

Thanks,

Kenyadian
There is a departure/ arrival record form 47 but plans to automate this yet to materialize with added difficulty that the forms are not serially numbered though there is a record of your Kenya passport R number that would be an ideal search field in a database. Recent fire at JKIA means 'many' exit/entry records may have gone up in smoke if the relevant storage area was affected. Maybe send someone to Nyayo House to clarify.

My sister didn't call. So she doesn't know if the file is transferred. She is not like me (i.e. eager to hear something). She just checks online (after I pushed her to do so) every now and then to make sure she is up to date. To answer you questions: no indication online besides: we started processing your application...etc.

But I do understand that it is so frustrating not to hear back. They received her application in Dec 2012 and not even a single word about a test. But it's not in our hands, unfortunately.
I think your sister's application process is not bad. Me and many others applied before Dec 2012 and still no test and I still consider my time line normal (as long as no RQ ). I agree with your sister, no need to call CIC unless it is passed 25 months since the day of submission (of course checking online the status once per week would be useful).

All the best to both of you!

How come you had a copy? Did you suspect that you were going to get RQ'd? I am planning to submit hopefully by the end of the week. I have every other document.

Thanks,

Is there a guideline for the criteria that I can refer to? I am happy to do so if you can point me to it.

Job title - Sales Manager.

Below is what quoted by a member on another forum:

(numbers in brackets - page references)
A2: FOSS concerns - no RQ if FOSS/GCMS criminality noted (5,7)
A3: previous applications not approved/withdrawn/etc. - no RQ if refusal/withdrawal due to language, knowledge or both (10)
A4: discrepancies in absences - you get a pass if discrepancies are 3 occasions or less and/or less than 5 days (29)
A5:
Homemakers, retirees, students are not considered unemployed (4,9, 18). You better write "homemaker" in the app if you are a homemaker (14).
Explanation of consultant/self-employed with travel situation (5,8-9) - they went with a "strict" scenario - any period of unemployment within 4 years + any travel, even if it does not coincide with unemployment
A6: absences to sell property/take care of ill family member - you get a pass if it is within 6 mo from landing, or 2 or fewer such absences in total (29)
C1: Renewed IDs in 3 months (3,5,9) - likely not applicable anymore, confirmation that it was updated, but no update text (29)
C2: Inconsistency between addresses interpretation - if address on ID does not matches current address per app, but matches one of the previous ones in the same app (i.e. you have not updated your ID after move) - no RQ, but you may be questioned (16)
General: You are expected to provide documents outside of 4 year range in RQ where requested - dating back to your arrival as CJs use this to assess ties (23)

A2: None
A3: Not applicable. This is my first application.
A4: My absences are pretty accurate. I am sending my plane tickets with my response.
A5: Here is the catch. I arrived in Canada in June 08. Landed as a PR and then left immediately, and returned in December 09. I was on a project that I had to complete before I could make my final move. This period shows up in my 4 year range. After making my final move back in Dec 09, I found a job in January 2010, and worked there till March 2010 before quitting. I was unemployed for two months after that. I put all that down in my original application. Maybe this is what triggered the RQ?
A6: Not applicable.
C1: Not applicable.
C2: Not applicable.

Thanks for your reply. Yes seems like unfortunately unemployment is a trigger for RQ as stated above.

I hope your application gets processed soon. Wish everyone luck.

I don't think so dear_pnp. some applicants were actually unemployed/self-employed but still managed to go thru the citizenship process without an RQ.

Today's RQ has no formula or pattern. It is arbitrary. It has nothing to do with the country of origin, employment, age...etc. Applicants have been trying hard to decode the RQ system. But just when you think someone has figured it out, an applicant comes up with his/her application story to crash the theory.

People quit/lose/change jobs every day in Canada (typical). And the agents know that. They are not stupid to the point that they would hand an RQ just for the fact someone was unemployed for 2 months.

Anyhow, that's my point of view. ;D

Thanks farrous13. I hope things go well for everyone. You said they won't give RQ just because you were unemployed for 2 months and you said there is no formula. So i guess it is random as you said, for quality control.
