My sister also applied for her citizenship and they started processing her application in Feb 2013. She checked today and her application is still in process. That's about 8 months. She is also a professional and been here for quite some time now. On top of that she didn't travel much.

Just wanted to fill you in.

Did she inquire about file transfer to local office?

I called CIC last friday (11 Oct) and confirmed my application has been sent to my local office (Calgary). Tried to update the spreadsheet but it's read-only.

Excellent news. I updated the sheet. Everybody can leave comments in the sheet and I can incorporate them.

Will give them a call to ask about my status tomorrow. CIC would have saved a lot more time for their phone agents if only they were posting a little more information on ecas.

I called CIC. And the guy over the phone confirmed that my file has not been transferred yet. He also mentioned that the whole process takes over 2 years. lol

Not any more, most applications are within a year.

The answers that the CIC gave me today are not new. I expected the common answer: will take 2 years or more. The CIC will never say that they have shorter times. They will abide by the duration that is stated online. So the one year process time is not confirmed and will not apply to everyone. My sister's application has been in process for 8 months now with no clue on when the exam date is. I also have a friend that has applied last Sep 2012. Didn't even attempt the exam yet. So I don't want applicants to go with what you say, because it's not true yet.

Not any more, most applications are within a year.
