So, what's the average time to get a letter of acknowledgement from Mississauga? Is end of next week overly optimistic? (they received the app on the 17th) I assume it is this letter that contains the file number that you then use to track it online?

Hi,

They received your file on May 17th and currently they are working on applications received on April 14, 2011. Processing time for now is 42-44 days.

Hope this helps. :)

My understanding is that the first time you are likely to hear from Mississauga us when sponsorship is approved and your file is transferred to the visa office. I signed up to 'ecas-tracker' which emails you when there is an update on the ecas system (and when an account is created)- you can use your receipt number to set it up (I haven't heard anything yet and probably won't for the next 2-3 weeks)!

This is my first post here. We just sent off my wife's application today. I'm Canadian, she's Thai. We're both in our mid-30's and have no kids. We've been married since November, and took WAY longer than we thought just to fill out the forms. We didn't hire a lawyer or representative, instead I was fortunate enough to work it out that I could stay in Thailand for several months. It never occurred to me to read forums about filling out the paperwork, so now even the mere act of finding this website has me second guessing our submission. :)

I haven't noticed any timelines about the Singapore office, except the official site which is claiming 20 months. Which was a kick in the gut after thinking it would be about 6 months. I have to go back to Canada and get back to work, leaving will be hard.

Anyway, hello!

Leif

i'm officially jumping into the may thread!! :)
the courier is (as i type) speeding to canada with our visa application...
so i'm officially a maybie heh

good luck and fast tracking for all!!

gone quite quiet on here as the waiting game begins. I've just been looking enviously at the April applicants' thread where they're all starting to announce with delight their receipt of sponsor approval letters. Just think - that'll be us lot next month! :)

I've signed up to the ecas system, as someone suggested. Does anyone know if this is likely to pick up anything ahead of sponsor approval, or is that step the very first time that it will register. For example, they must look at the whole application to make sure everything's there before they start making any judgements? I wonder when that takes place and how long it takes them to write to you if something is missing? (not that it should be!)

Goodness I'm impatient. Every time something annoying happens at work now I find myself thinking "...not for too much longer!"

Chrischris, I'm like that at work too, although no one there knows my plans yet! I have a feeling the first time we'll hear anything is when sponsorship is approved. The days seem to go slower and slower as we wait!

So does this mean it takes 42-44 days from the day they start looking at it....or from the day it was received??

About 42 days from when they receive it, it only takes a day or two to make a decision. You should hear by end of June to mid July.
