Hey, welcome! I noticed the flag....are you or your SO Moroccan? My husband who's sponsoring me (Canadian citizen) is :-) I also have a question about the Visa office you listed: it says Mississauga but we all mail our initial documents into Mississauga. Which Visa office will ultimately be handling your case?

Hello All,
Just sent in my application today!

My common law partner is sponsoring me, he is Canadian, I am American and we are living in America right now.

I guess the wait begins... :D

Thank you!!

I am Canadian and my husband is Moroccan. We are applying outland and Rabat will be the office the application ends up at.

I took forever putting together the application and it is weird how great a sense of accomplishment it is but at the same time it's like a whole new kinda anxiousness...LOL

Are you applying in or out?

Congrats....and best wishes!!

So now that I have actually sent the application I am ready to ask these questions. Can someone please explain all the short forms I see.

AOR for example.

I am sure lots of others have asked so sorry for the duplicate but I am sure if I don't know there are others too ;D

AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt. A form letter issued by a visa office saying they have received an application, how long it normally takes to process the application, what documents may be requested from the applicant and how to send these and any other communication with the visa office. It will give the applicant a file number.

Thank you!!

So this will be sent to my husband or to the Representative we assigned?

It will be sent to your assigned representative.

For the London May folks, I have made a spreadsheet following the London Visa Offices processing times.
Click the link below to have a look.
It helped me alot being able to see others processing times.
Good luck!

Thanks again :D

I am sure there are a million other questions I have so I really appreciate the assistance.

I am mildly nervous about the fact that I did not date the back of my husbands photo but only put name and birthday. I really hope this is not grounds to ship it back to me. :-X

No worries, applicant's name and DOB are what you are supposed to put there.

Hooray! - according to Royal Mail tracking, my application was successfully delivered in Mississauga yesterday - I am officially a May-bie!

My first question now, is what happens next? Do they send a letter of acknowledgement with a file number so I can track it online, or will they do this by email?

Good luck all my fellow May-bies.

Chris

I believe if you gave them an email it will be emailed to you. At least that is what I understood from the application. But others with more experience will be able to answer better I am sure

We got a letter from Mississauga, and an email from London.
I guess it varies depending on which VO happens to be working on your file.

Good luck!
