Aren't there enough men in Canada of any color? Jeez.. it's not about color. Well, it shouldn't be but sometimes it is. I have family who don't approve of my husband who is just part black (and yes, he is the Canadian.. not all of us immigrants are third world 'con artists').
It's sad to see stuff like that in the 21st century.
If we could choose who to fall in love with, do you think that any of us would be going through this frustrating process? That's not how it works.
Back to the original topic a bit.. people need to start acting like adults. Ok, if you chat online with someone for a month and then marry them the first day you visit them, that's probably not going to be true love, right? Anyone that is old enough to get married should know this. It happens to men and to women, so there's no need to generalize. CIC shouldn't HAVE to take months and years to assess genuine marriages.
As for the sponsorship agreement, I think this exists for a wonderful reason. We have neighbors who took part in an immigration scam. Yes, the guy told my husband this, he wasn't ashamed. The woman's family paid him several thousand dollars to marry her and bring her over (he also came over from that country as a child,). He tried to get rid of her shortly thereafter, but nope, he has to be responsible for her for three years.. which is good. It's not only trying to protect people from other countries from being taken advantage of, it's trying to deter the scams like this that go on all the time.
And by the way, their case was approved in under three months.. so it's hard for me to sit back and think that the elaborate and expensive process is doing much good.
