Marriage in Canada

Hello, Me and my girlfriend have been in a relationship for 8 months. Sadly, she had to leave my country and moved to Canada. We really love each other and we would like to get married so we could stay together. Can I marry her in Canada and then apply for work permit? I need to work if I want to make some money.... Will there be a problem? If so, is there any chance of proving our marriage is genuine because we didn't live with each other in one house back then and we didn't pay bills together. Only thing we can prove are lots of chats, photos, gifts, photos with friends and family members, photos from trips, lots of videos. Is this enough for immigration workers to prove our marriage is genuine?

What is her status in Canada?

She is Ukrainian and she has work permit and after 3 years of being in Canada she can get PR. I'm actually not sure what is the name of the program.
She is here under an open work permit that is valid for three years (CUAET). This doesn't automatically mean she will get PR after 3 years. However the work permit is certainly valid for thee years.

To answer your question, yes, you can get married in Canada. Once you get married, you will qualify to apply for an open work permit as long as she holds a job and is working. Processing of your work permit could take a few months (you won't be able to work until the work permit is approved). You'll want to provide evidence of your relationship with the open work permit application (in addition to the marriage certificate). Video evidence is not accepted.

You will need either a TRV or eTA to travel to Canada to get married.

Ok, I got informed that it will be a big problem and I could get in trouble with immigration workers because we need to prove that our marriage is genuine. We don't have any documents to prove that besides having a lot of photos from our trips, love photos, photos with our friends or family members. I got told that they could have problem with that and not approve us and that would get me deported. Is that true or can we prove it with just photos and letters and chats etc.?

I can't answer that question. It will be up to IRCC if the evidence you have is enough to prove a genuine relationship. Since you have not lived together before, my advice would be to not just have a marriage ceremony but also a reception with at least a few friends. I would also recommend that you set up joint bank accounts before you submit the open work permit application - and that she add you to her lease if possible, also to utility bills.

You won't be deported. But the work permit could be refused if IRCC does not believe your relationship is genuine.
