Marriage certificate surname confusion

Hi! I am new on the forum and I was gathering all my documents for under canada family class spousal sponsorship.

I got divorced in 2015 and got my divorce certificate and my legal name was restored after the divorce. I remarried a few months ago. As I was gathering all my legal documents, all of them still have my ex-husband's surname, including my passport. My new marriage certificate has my ex's surname to match my passport. I heard some friends say that I should put my maiden name in my new marriage certificate because I'm already divorced. I'm confused a lot about this. Should I amend my marriage certificate to show my maiden name even though my passport has my ex's surname? or do i keep the marriage certificate as is--with my ex's surname as that is whats on my passport?

I'm asking this because i'm submitting all my documents for application for canada family class spousal sponsorship program.

I would think that any option is fine, as everything is truthful and it´s what it says on your documents.

Thank you for your reply, me and my husband agreed not to change my marriege certificate as all of my document is depending on my passport. I called to cic and they said just include explanation and everything would be fine. On more thing helena, should I submit my police check document where I spend more than six months in abudhabi or should I wait the cic to request it?

Hi,

About the Police Certificate, they don´t request it up front because they are valid usually for 3 months.

Do you already have it or you have to get it ?

Who is sponsoring who? The sponsored spouse needs the pcc done.
