Just had a ghost update today, although not sure if that is because I linked my application to my GC Key account last night

Just had a Ghost Update today (Jul 24), I applied for an Visitor Extension on Friday, not sure if that could affect my actual PR application and that could be the update?

I just checked my GC Key website and finally, they changed my status; Final decision - July 19, 2023:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

but nothing is changed on PR tracker site and still my background checking is still on progress

I got my eCoPR today However, my Expiry date is only 23/12/11 same as my passport expiry date. Do I have to renew my passport and renew PR right away??? And also I'm still waiting work permit....Can I get a job with ECoPR or Do I have to wait for work permit??

You are now virtually landed. So you are a PR now. Any of your previous visitor or work permit is not valid any more. You will get your first PR card (not sure if you need to apply or is that process automatic with virtual landing. Check other discussion to find out.) Keep your eCOPR in a good place and you will eventually need it for things like old age security (not 100% but some kind of benefit much later on).

You can apply for a new permanent SIN and use that for your job. It's normal that COPR has expiry date as passport or medical exam expiry which ever comes first. You should renew your passport if you have a plan to travel or want to be ready for any up coming trips.
