My tracker status has been stuck for months, and today my background verification went from "Not started" to "In progress" as well. Interesting timing indeed.

Do you guys know what is the difference between background check and eligibility? My assumption is that in background check they check if you have had problems with the law while in eligibility they check your work/education/language tests/settlement funds. Is this a correct assumption?

I am not complaining but I find it weird that my biometrics says in progress. I already did my fingerprints and photo. What else do they need to complete this?
Also, Background is my biggest fear because I have a humongous travel history with over 50 trips in the last 10 years.

I think the agents/ case officers forget to update statuses. Nothing else can describe this kind of anomaly. It is notorious that ppl don't get updates and still receive PPR mails. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about Biometrics of all.
To me - eligibility completed is a big step. congrats!

I also have quite an extensive travel history (not as many as 50 though) and have worked in 3 different countries, but when I called IRCC last week they told me my bcg check has passed (hope they got the information correctly). I think as long as you did not visit any sensitive areas, it would be OK.

Thank you @Pdm_ca ! Yes I agree eligibility is a big step. I am not complaining at all and I am not worried, I have been happy with how IRCC has been handling my application so far, I am just curious about things thats why I ask questions

Haha that was my thought! But alas, no movement on mine. Maybe the entire Etobicoke office has left the building.

Nah that was my information sharing / and security which went from Completed according to IRCC in Feb, but the next time I called a month later, they said it was in progress.

Apparently some IRCC employees are still working, as Background verification on my tracker has just changed from "Not started" to "In progress" this afternoon...
