I think majority of Indian diaspora files are taking longer because of the tensions between Canada and India; consequent removal of lot of IRCC staff from India. Some category had to take a hit; and i reckon it's this. I have not really seen other countries applicants complaining of such delays.

You can check with your police station on their timelines around verification visit (to give you an idea). Other than that, the procedure is not in your hands - they will do as per their schedule. All the best!
