CPC- Miss. office received my application also 27th March but I've still heard nothing and cannot link to / find my application via my IRCC online account. I've found my application via the ECAS website you mentioned and it states 'application received' however I've not received any emails. Have you had your AOR?

March 12th applicant here. Submitted to Mississauga, recieved on March 13th. Just received biometrics email 2 weeks ago. Cannot link still...we just have to keep waiting and trying.

“prospective application number XF#########”
“Your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on 2020-03-06 on behalf of ___________ and family (if applicable).
We have received your application, and will advise whether your application is complete or is missing required documents. It is in queue for processing and we will contact you should we require more information from you.
The application number quoted above is temporary. Once we have completed the review of your application and it has been deemed complete, we will inform you of your permanent application number. In the meantime, you can quote the temporary application number or UCI when communicating with us”
I somewhat feel like this is just them telling us what we already know. Our application is in a stack of applications waiting to be looked at.

No, to get an AOR from my understanding they have to look through your entire application making sure you have included all signatures, supporting documents etc and then they issue you an AOR with a actual application number rather then prospective.
You will get your AOR once they do all that and advise you whether your application is complete. If it is complete you will get the AOR, I’d assume.
I think this is just to make us feel they are making progress on opening the applications.
Confirming the trend here. Just received the exact same email. It's a bit troubling, the way they formulate the email make it seem like I am the principal applicant applying for PR when in fact it is my partner doing so.

I believe they are talking about Outland applications, those who are already outside of the country waiting to Reunite with their families. I hope inland speeds up too though.

I was also wondering whether this is the AOR. They are technically acknowledging receipt of the application in the very first line of the letter and noting that it's in que for processing, so I would think/hope so...
Also hoping that the letter means that they won't be mailing the application back (e.g. due to something obvious or "big" missing, like a missing signature).
