I lost my job and can I apply for CERB? Will that affact my sponsorship application ? note: No AOR received yet.

Hello Guys My sponsorship application was received on March 5 but no AOR or no email or mail received yet. Not even a single update on my application yet. I'm in canada and my wife is in India. Is this normal ? been 4 months and no update. Anyone in the same situation ?

any procedure to get an update ? I called them but they gave me a number for my sponsor application but they said its not official AOR so any thoughts or idea what to do in this situation ? Also I tried to check the application status with that number but its not found in the system so

This is normal as most spousal sponsorship applications take 12 months. In the last 3-4 months no processing has happened and many applicants who applied for spousal sponsorship are waiting to receive an update.

Requesting GCMS notes only helps when your application has started processing and is entered in the system.

Instead, you can send a webform and ask the status. If you send a paper based application, expect more delays and IRCC is currently not dealing with any paper based application.

You can apply for CERB and it has no bearing on your application. You can apply if you are eligible.

Biometrics come into picture during security phase. Criminality is passed using PCC i think.
