Mine was transferred to Ottawa and then an electronic copy was sent back to Mississauga. Not sure why. Could be to approve eligibility. Won't know for sure until I get my notes
How long was your file in Ottawa before it was sent back to Mississauga? In your account, has your background check been changed to "in progress" yet?

In case anyone else was curious about what happens during the background check, I asked my lawyer what the process was like and she replied:

"I’ve never before heard of them contacting past employers or schools, so I’d doubt that for sure. And they do not normally request police clearances that have already been provided – particularly when they were issued quite recently -- but it is possible that they could request a more recent clearance if the old one was issued almost a year ago.

More generally - the focus of the background check is assessing the evidence regarding the genuineness of the relationship, and assessing any admissibility concerns (misrepresentation, the results of the police clearances and medical examination, etc).

As for timing, the entire process is generally complete within 12 months – and this would be measured from the submission date. Processing could be longer given the complexity in the case, particularly if they want an interview."

Just had a series of mails. I initially requested extension for the 15 days allowed to submit a PCC until PA returns to Egypt. They approved the extension in an email, then
They requested
- medical
- Schedule A (again as an update)
- Relationship evaluation
- PCC
- Evidence of sponsor residence in Canada (in form of employment, tax, passport stamps, travel history)
- ORIGINAL PASSPORT.

Cairo VO requests Passport ealrier than DM. SO I can't say application is approved until we send the requirements and medical.

Can we please keep the spreadsheet sorted as per the application status... i mean the way it was before... its easier to track

OK. I apologize. However I think soting by reception date makes sense too.

Come on buddy.. U dnt hv to apologize.. It was jst a suggestion..

My eCas was showing "In process" and 3 lines only.

Today its DM but have another line inside "We sent you mail on Apr 25 for additional documents etc etc".
I never received any mail on Apr 25, last mail I received was Apr 10 for Schedule A and my file was transferred on June 12

Did they mess the date on eCas or I missed any email for additional documents?
