Hi. We just received our SA last april 22 and our file was already forwarded to the local VO. I just wanna ask regarding the medical exam coz i didnt do any upfront medical. Is it ok to do the medical exam now even if i didnt receive the instruction yet or i still have to wait for the email instruction of it? Hope you guys can help. Thank you.

Hi zairakim, my husband didn't do the medical upfront either. The Paris VO just requested a document regarding all previous travel in the past 10 yrs. but nothing about the medical...
I'm wondering, should he go ahead and do the medical now even though they haven't requested it yet?
What did you do? Or find out about this?

Any suggestions from others?
Thanks

Remember me Sirenae? we have the exact same timeline. I am sponsoring my wife. I wasn't sure if I should fill this form and I filled it anyway. since I am her husband. I am a Canadian lives at the border town. so i have been to the US for at least 100 times or not less. from using USPS to return library books to filling up my gas tank. sometimes, it's just a 20 mins trip. i just wrote, Bellingham, Washington, weekly trip.

I wrote the final destination anyway. for example, every year I go to Tijuana, Mexico for dental tourism/check up. lol. cuz my plan wasn't good.. but usually flying from Bellingham, WA to San Diego, CA. therefore I just wrote the destination Tijuana, purpose?
Dental tourism. same as when i visit the Bahamas, despite I stopped over at Miami and Fort Lauderdale; i just wrote visit/tourism the Bahamas.

good for you.. my PR side still said "received the application". so for sure you have reached SA.
Heyy yijiequ!!!
Of course I remember you ;D Timeline buddies!!
Did you click on the Principal Application side in the notes? Maybe there is info that they have actually started with the 2nd part and you actually do have SA also. Mine still doesn't say SA nor have we received an email yet stating that I was approved as Sponsor. Craziness!!! One never really knows....

Thanks for your insight on my question. I ended up entering in the stopovers because they were for 6 days at a time and didn't want anything questioned about something so trivial. ::)
Now the question is.... should my husband go ahead with the medical even though they haven't requested it yet?? He didn't do it upfront. I've been trying to find info on this but can't seem to find anything...

I don't think patience is the answer in this situation…you don't know his situation or where his significant other is. Many times significant others are in countries with little to no adequate healthcare, political instability and other major societal issues which may pose a real threat to their life on a daily basis. Given that it seems his process has taken almost double the time it's supposed to, I feel he has the right to express some frustration.

With due respect, I've never implied that I was not being patient.

One day they tell me I am approved to be a sponsor, and 2 weeks later, I am not.

Them being vague and inconsistent has nothing to do with me being patient.

And it's 71 days since application received, and I havent heard back regarding sponsorship status. If this is not being patient, then I don't know what is.

do the medical anyway.. my wife did the medical before i sent out the application; we just do not want it delay anymore.

my wife side's PR said "application received".. i know unless it's showing "in progress" or "we started processing your application"; then i am not at SA yet.

i know the system is lack of consistence. what you gonna do eh?

Finally got my FBI Police Clearance! The email I got from CIC requesting documents said to email it to them, so just sent that off and crossing fingers that the scanned images are good enough.

Also, I just have to say that this forum is amazing. I don't post very often, except for updates, but it is very exciting to see how everyone's processes are going, both the frustrating parts of waiting and the people who have gotten DM. Reading Decoy24601 and yijlequ's back and forth about living in the northwest makes me so excited for this to all come together, because I'm hoping to move to Vancouver as well. Anyway, just really grateful for all of this right now, so figured I'd say something about it.

a post above suggested you already received an AOR from the visa office the applicant's application is suppose to go to, right?

if this is the case, then it's pretty safe to assume you received SA, and CIC just neglected to send the letter correctly. either it was sent to the wrong email or it's lost in the mail (have you checked the sponsor's junk emails?). there are many people who successfully finish the process without receiving the SA letter. it's pretty common for this to happen. If you say the applicant received an AOR from their visa office, go by THAT information. It may also be a good idea to order your GMSC notes to see what it says about the sponsor's file.

feel free to share your timeline again in case i've missed something.

yijiequ, yes, since they are already working on his part of the application I think we will do the medical before they request it. Then it's already done :)
I just KNOW that yours is going to show that they started processing your wife's part of the application soon!! After all, we are both on the same timeline!!
Looking forward to hearing this news this next week!! **thinking positive!!

Of course, why not try!! ;) That way you can spend some well deserved time together!! Let us know when the TVR comes through and how long it took.
Meanwhile, stay positive.

I received CoPR in the mail today. Heading to Niagara on Sunday. Does anyone have any tips or advice concerning coming through Immigration. Do I need any additional paper work and can my Common Law spouse come with me?

Thanks.

all you need is your passport, copr and your B4 (recently renumbered) form, if you plan to bring anything into canada that isn't already there. if you are not declaring any belongings, then all you need is your COPR and passport. yes, your sponsor can go with you. more than likely, they will have to sit and wait while you finalize the copr with the officer.
