Hi
I posted a reply to a similar question raised two pages ago. I'll paste it again...

Yes, I applied for a visitor's visa and my application was processed in Nairobi. We have filed our PR application in March and my husband has already been approved as a sponsor.
We read a lot of posts that it's almost impossible to get a visitor's visa while in PR process but there were a few but very encouraging posts that stated otherwise. So we decided to go ahead with the application as we knew the decision would have no impact on the PR process.
Both my husband and I wrote letters explaining our situation. That we are waiting for the decision on my PR application and that my husband has been approved as a sponsor. We added that the waiting time is too long for us to spend away from each other. We also explained that I will not jeopardize my PR application by overstaying in Canada and that I will return to my country before my visa expires. I explained about my job and that I have time to visit my husband during summer vacation.

We included the following documents as supporting documents based on the requirements we found on the check list.
- The letters of explanation
- Notice of Assessment (my husband's)
- My Bank statement
- letter from my employer stating my position and the granted leave of absence for the summer,
- Sponsorship approval letter we received last month,
- Medical examination (this was optional but we included it since I had it done for the PR)
- A flight reservation
- my two old /cancelled passports to show my travel history

I applied through Visa Application Center and made the payment there so the agent included the payment receipt when he packed my passport and the application documents.

My package was not that thick but I believe I gave them all the necessary documents to convince that I will return to my country after my visit. The letter is important to explain the situation too.

Result = a five-year multiple entry visa. This will definitely make the waiting easier.

So go ahead and apply, tell your story nicely :)

STILL waiting on SA. Last called on Monday and will call again on this coming Monday if there's no movement. It will be call #4. First one the person said they would send an email, but according to the agent I spoke with they sent the inquiry to the wrong office, then on the next Monday the first agent was completely rude to my wife, saying she shouldn't be calling and to wait three months before calling again...she never even asked for her name or client ID. Then I called and got a nice woman who explained what happened the first time and said she would inquire with Mississauga. I'm getting frustrated for sure..."in process" since April 24 and absolutely nothing since.

Just be patient, if you ahve your PR number use it as Client ID and log in on ECAS you will have an idea on your status. same situation happened to me, up to now I didn't get any information from Missassauga.but one of the agents in the call center confirmed the file was transfered in April.(I am February applicant). so jsu be courageous take heart and wait. I also ordered notes and m just waiting so you can do same things maybe.sorry brother.

Hey rugrat, do you have a DM in eCAS at least?

You are now at twice what it should be for SA, so I'd definitely call my MP on Monday if the next CIC call isn't fruitful.

Nope - still sitting at "In Process". Yeah...riiiight. If it said DM, that would be fine; I wouldn't even be concerned about not getting the email notification because 99.8% of the time it's positive.

Yes, the MP is the next step. Getting my wife to do it by herself might be a bit of a challenge...she's kind of scared of the whole process because of some people she knows who have had the process take forever, but their circumstances (either Inland or sketchier relationships with quick marriages, etc) were very different than ours. But I definitely will push it harder this coming week.

Wow :o If I move to Brazil, will they change my Visa Office from London to Sao Paulo? Serious Question.

The thing is, this is the easy part. Once you get SA, it'll be quick (3-4 months). Anxiety is a product of not knowing and uncertainty. Arm her with facts and a script and it should go easier.

My guess would be that you've been misfiled as Inland.

Generally, no. They tend to base things more on country of birth than country of residence.

Thanks guys!
Yes, finally Brazil is worth of an accomplishment.
I'm really really happy
