If it's not listed in your guideline, I'm guessing you don't need it? I don't remember filling out that form, and I was never asked for it! Which country is your friend applying from?

She is from Poland. I checked the East Europe guide and it is not listed there either.

Hey all! Before i was telling you about my friend, who also applied in march and her application was lost. So.. she just got it back - they sent it back because of missing document IMM 5285. I did one silly thing before - didnt keep all copies of documents so now im not sure if i sent it in my own application or not ( i recall some questions but i think from different form) . But looking at the guide http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp ... there is no such an document required.. What do you think??

Normally if they send it back, there is either a missing signature or use of outdated forms. Both the imm5490 and imm5285 were revised in October. It's possible she downloaded an older version of the form. And it looks as though your friend applied as common-law? Or applied inland possibly? Link doesn't work. Here is the info pertaining to your friend's form.

The CIC added Question 31 to the Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire. It also added Question 13 to the Spouse/Common-Law Questionnaire. These questions:

Request the voluntary consent of the sponsored spouse
Enable the sponsored spouse to inform the sponsor about the results of any investigation of marriage fraud or Marriages of Convenience
These amendments apply to applications concerning:

Family class spousal
Common-law partners and,
Conjugal partners

Your friend applied inland. You were going to also apply inland, but changed your mind to outland. You don't have this form and mustn't need to worry.

Another update! My wife's ecas now says:

1.We received your application for permanent residence on May 14, 2014.

2.Medical results have been received.

Last night, the medicals was still not there. So I believe, this her AOR 2?

But now really confused, because how can Singapore receive her application before I got my SA? I guess ECAS can not be relied on too much. But I feel better that meds have been received.

It could be that before, I used the application file number under her name, whereas today, I tried both, uci and file number with both our names. I don't think they work weekends. Probably I just didn't see it before.

no, not necessarily, this is the status that shows up after SA. It doesn't mean the VO has gotten the file yet, just that it's been transferred. I believe you'll get an email from singapore when it arrives.

yeah, i noticed others said their ecas would update on the weekends, which i thought was weird too. mine also changed to in process over the weekend. not sure if they enter it in on fridays and it just updates over the weekend, or if they have someone actually entering updates in over the weekend. it seems to be happening more regularly right now.

will someone update the spreadsheet? My ecas changed to IN PROCESS today, 7/19!!! CIC started processing the app on 7/15, the day i got my passport & RPRF requests.

Hey, thanks for reply. My friend applied just like us - in March, outland and shes from Poland. I applied first and then i was helping her and she send her application and it was received by CIC on March 26th. But they decided to return it in July.. so lame. And the form IMM 5285 is for inland.

She got IMM 5490, just like me. Seems they confused her application with inland? Im sure she sent it to the right address also. Could CIC make such a big mistake??

I would have your friend call to ask. They definitely have been known to make mistakes. It's better to clear this up with them as they sent back the application.

Thanks, but I am still confused. When I open ecas with her file number (which was on my sa email), and type in her name, dob, country, it takes me to a different style page than it does with my uci and my name.

And further using her info, it shows under permanent residence application,

Applicant xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Then beside says application received(which i can open link)

Then states: we received application blah blah may 14
Medical results have been received.

There is not one mention of my name or sponsor anywhere during this.

And now, when I open ecas using my UCI, it is a different format.

Under Sponsorship Application it shows

Sponsored person. Sponsorship application status. Permanent residence status

Under these are:

My wife name. Decision Made. (Link) Application Received. (Link)

If i click on links: We received app may 14. We received xxxxx xxxx app for pr may 14
We sent you letter july 15. Medicals received

So, this is the same for everyone??? This is not AOR 2? We can only get AOR 2 by email or letter from visa office?

I think you are right, but the wording used in ECAS leads me to believe they have her application. There are two sections. One for sponsorship and one for PR application status. And the dates don't make sense anyways....how can the visa office have her application before I get decision made.

Maybe others from singapore can shed light as well?
