I am going to renew my visitor permit. I received a year last year ( I was requested to pay RPRF and repeat medical)
so my question is can I ask another year?

anther question is filling out the form IMM5708- Background information
one of questionnaire asks if I remained beyond the validity of your status - I renewed work permit and disqualified (at that time my permit was expired ) then apply restoration of status.
But I left Canada before I received a letter regarding to restoration (still don't know if it was approved or not)
Should I say YES for this question ?

I did fill out same form last year but honestly don't remember what I did.....

thanx in advance

Hi everyone. We got AOR2 yesterday. MVO is requesting for a completed Appendix A as well as the details of my spouse's previous relationship to the mother of his child. Here are my questions.

1. Am I correct in my understanding that my spouse need to send his ACTUAL passport and not the details pf his passport such as a photocopy of the passport's biopage to MVO together with the completed Appendix A form and the letter (AOR2) received from MVO?

2. Other than the details of when and where the previous relationship of my spouse and his ex gf started and ended, what other details does my spouse need to include in the letter that may be beneficial for the peocessing of his visa?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

1. When CEM requests the passport it is written very clearly using the words "original passport"

Thanks Chris. It just doesn't make sense for them to request a copy of the passport when it is included in the application package. I thought CEM is asking for the actual passport because in Appendix A, it is asking for an address where the passport can be returned. How long does it take before they request for the original passport? Any idea?

Double check your letter, read it a few times to be sure they are not asking for the original passport.

It is not uncommon for the VO to request documents/copies that you have already sent in with the application to Mississauga. Some where along the way sometimes documents get miss placed or Mississauga did not transfer everything to CEM or its also possible documents are being compared, who knows as to why but it certainly happens. It happened to us CEM requested documents that were sent originally with the application to Mississauga. I faxed, emailed and sent copies by courier ...one of the 3 were sure to get to the file lol.

Re: Manila Thread for English Speakers - join here!

Visa received today, 22 July 2015 - 9 months total. Thank you to many here for the advice, both good and bad. Thanks mostly to pelipeli for the great approach to preparing and organizing the application http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t92449.0.html.

We are already in Toronto, so maybe we'll cap off the weekend with a short drive to Niagara Falls to "flagpole". I haven't yet found the answer to a previous question regarding the CFO (and GCS) if you happen to have already left Philippines on a visitor visa. The CFO website mentions a registration form for overseas-based registrants, but of course there is no such form available to download.

I have the link to the form....http://www.cfo.gov.ph/pdf/downloadable%20forms/registrationform.pdf

What its used for is when you go to the CFO for the GCS seminar. I do not know what can be done since you are already here. Perhaps contact the Philippine Embassy......http://www.philcongen-toronto.com/

Thanks Chris. I think this is the Philippine-Based form. Maybe there is only one.

I've looked through the web sites for CFO and the Phiilippine embassy in Toronto. I think I did read somewhere (a google search) that there might be an exemption from the GCS if you are already out-of-country. I expect my partner will have to pay the CFO fee on our next trip to the Phils.

That could certainly be a possibility for your partner to pay the fee and attend the seminar on her next trip. However since her residence will be here in Canada and she will have her PR card, I would think it should be unlikely, when never knows as I'm sure you have learnt how things are in Asia.

Example my wife just attended the GCP/GCS seminar on Friday Phil Time and she txt me at work she needed more information about the back ground of my mom, Yet that was not a question on the form she was required to fill out for the seminar.. good example of, one has to just go with the flow when it comes to overseas processes.

Hi all,

This forum has been a great help, and allowed us to hope for a faster process than the "80% processing time" stated by CIC. Indeed the end is now in sight after 8 months.

Now, I'm looking for insight from anyone else living outside of Philippines who's had to submit their physical passport to the embassy in Manila for the PR visa.

Background:
I'm Canadian, my wife is Filipino, we live in UAE. We will move to Canada once her PR visa is issued (my employer has agreed to a transfer around September). We received a letter this week via email stating that:
  • my wife's visa is ready to be issued, conditional to a final admissibility review. It would be valid until early Sept.
  • we must submit the original passport within 30 days, along with Appendix A and 2 photos.
  • CIC "will make our best efforts to have your passport(s) returned to you with your visa(s) within 90 working days from their receipt."

This is great and unexpected (we applied in late Oct, got SA in mid-Jan, and anticipated another 2-4 month wait based the Manila VO spreadsheet).

Complication:
We want to visit Canada in July for my annual leave (had planned to use her TRV). Part of the trip is to look for a place to live. But now we are faced with sending her passport out of the country for the visa issuance. Being without her passport in the UAE is uncomfortable, as it's often required for interactions with the government, banks, etc., and of course for any travel. Our lawyer advises that we must submit to Manila, and that we cannot now go to the local embassy (Abu Dhabi) for the visa stamping.

Help wanted:
  • Has anyone sent their passport from abroad to Manila for the visa issuance? Does it really take 90 days?
  • Any thoughts on using VFS vs. a Courier for this service?
  • If she were to travel to Manila and submit it in person (or via VFS global in MNL), what kind of turnaround time might we expect?

We would be grateful for any insight on this, and will be happy to pay it back to the group by sharing some analysis i've been doing on the Manila VO spreadsheet in a separate post.

Many thanks,
Kevin

Did they give you the option to send to Ottawa?

My partner travelled to Canada on TRV 4 days after PPR. Now we had planned she would be there more than 90 days anyway. We couriered the passport to Ottawa the morning after she arrived and had it back by courier 16 days later.

Hi, jerryca!

How did you go about this? Was it stated in your PPR? I'm asking since I am also currently in Canada already on TRV and my visitor extension has been approved for a year, and I'll most probably still be here when they request for my passport? Did you do anything specific in your application or does everyone get this option?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply jerryca. Yes, the did give this option. Something like "if you are already in Canada, and plan to be there for at least 90 days, you can send passport to Ottawa." I hadn't considered it because i can only go for few weeks in July, but perhaps my wife could go ahead of me or stay longer if her passport is delayed coming back from Ottawa. Big assumption being that your 16 days is indicative, and not an outlier.

Hi boopityboo, we didn't make any specific request for this, so I guess it must be offered to everyone.

Kind regards,
Kevin

Ours was in the letter too. They had only issued the TRV about 10 days before.

I think I would have your wife go ahead or stay longer. I thought the 16 days was long really and I imagine you could include a note with your travel plans and they might expedite.

I think it is Chris on this thread who got his wife's passport in a week because she was travelling to a third country. It was the Manila VO and she was returning to Thailand before landing. The good thing in Canada is that the courier (Xpresspost) is usually the next day delivery.

One other thing. Even though we sent passport to Ottawa, we enquired about the return by e-mailing Manila. It was the Manila VO that replied and gave us the Xpresspost tracking number that would be sent from Ottawa.

Thanks for clearing that up. It would indeed be easier to send the passport to Ottawa than to send it all the way to Manila. :D
