hi kumusta? just wondering if anyone here was sponsored or is currently being sponsored by their spouse outside canada with their spouse with them in the same country? my work permit expired and my implied status is soon ending so we wanna stay in the philippines while he's sponsoring me. he's coming with me because we just got married and we don't wanna live apart. he just got out of school too and he only started working a few months ago. will that affect his financial ability? any advice?

Well, if he quits his job and moves to the Philippines with you, that would certainly affect his financial ability to sponsor you. Why didn't you apply inland?

Generally, spousal sponsorship doesn't need to meet minimum income requirement.

My advice is not to send chat logs unless they are asked for. They are lengthy and VO's have an obligation to review everything you send. So if you send them 500 pages of chat logs then they have to read 500 pages of chat logs. They are also costly to post.

The CIC website indicates exactly what kind of documentation they require. Go for quality over quantity. Our entire application consisted of a dozen pics, receipts of travel with our names on them, marriage certificate and supporting documents/photo copies. I think it was 15 pages in total. Focus on what they are asking to be verified.

Oh now I worry b/c we sent about 1,500 pages of chat logs:(

DAMN!!!!!!! 1500 pages.. holy shit that's overkill

Yup! I'd certainly have my second cup of coffee before opening up that file . . .

hi all! just a question for those who already landed ... were you guys required to show vaccination records or something of that sort? thanks in advance for the reply

I sent over 2000. Keep in mind that everyone has a different set of circumstances, we had a very short courtship and a quick marriage so I think it was appropriate to send more chat logs. This is not a one size fits all process and you will not ever run into problems for sending in too much information, you will never see someone denied because their file was too big ;) . 2000 pages and I was still processed fairly quickly, faster than i thought we would be.

I was very much expecting an interview for us, in my opinion the large amount of chat logs contributed to not having an interview. If we had a longer relationship prior to being married then i could see sending in less. but again different circumstances for everyone.

I'm sure part of the documentation that should be submitted is proof of ongoing communication with your spouse. It may not be a case where you fail if you don't submit it, but it certainly strengthens your application. Anyway, I will send about 100 pages and include cover letter.
