hi ikon sorry for the late reply...kinda busy catching up with the husband and his family :).

I really don't know because when I called, the VO told me to go there asap but that was because my visa was ready even before the typhoon. hmmmm but at first she thought that my pp was not with them and they told me to bring it anytime. i think it is case to case basis. was she able to talk to a vo?

Mrs Cranberries.. we got dm this morning.. are u in Canada already.. by the way how do you like the snow storm and double digit coldness? thank you for that advice about emailing. My wife is completely shut off from communication from the embassy as she wants me to handle everything... (talk about living stress free while me the sponsor is going nuts)
ahha.. anyways..might fly her in here end of january

Ok well here's #1. Despite the fact that we tidied up the place (and there's a few here that can corroborate), this will most certainly NOT meet her standards. Expect a complete 'house cleaning', from top to bottom. Throw your junk out NOW, or HIDE it . . . your choice!

LOL! including my precious PORN collection? aahhahaha oh man.. i guess i'll have to start doing inventory on the crap i have around the house

For sure, but it's still exciting (as you have said) to actually receive it. We did the same, for us when booking the ticket, the lowest available fare dropped considerably on the change of the month from January to February.

I signed up for email alerts at sky scanner. so at least im aware of the prices for her flight.. can't believe this is going faster than I have anticipated

Good plan. Wait for the visa to arrive of course, but if you see a good fare buy it. For sure, don't ever sit on a good fare and watch the month turn (like from Dec 31 to Jan 1), I've seen all heck break loose on fares once as the month turned over. If you can afford the extra $100, buy her 'preferred legroom seating' (the front of a section and preferably emergency exit over just a bulkhead), she'll love it. All except on Philippine Airlines, if you're not assertive they'll take it away from you/her (even though you have PAID for that seat specifically).

i'm planning on using korean airlines as its the most direct flight they have to Toronto... I flew with them before and they have some of the best food during flight.. and plenty of leg room. And you're right I will wait until maybe january to see what happens with the flight.. I have asked her to inquire at the korean airlines office directly at the airport to book the ticket.. as it may be cheaper in the Philippines than overseas. is that even true?

I am happy to see so many people getting their DMs & Visas. I am not happy that we are one of the last from Sept, 2012 to have a DM. I had hoped that after our remeds were requested in October (And Received Nov 16 - 1 month ago) that there was finally light at the end of the tunnel. When we applied the wait time was listed as 9 months. We're now on 15 months and counting. For the most part I have played nice and been as patient as possible but I am reaching my limit.
If there is no DM by the first week of January I am going to make my MP earn her money. Especially since it's her government who caused the strike to drag on. It seems at every turn there have been delays. They system is broken, beyond screwed up and when this is all over I intend to be very vocal about our messed up immigration system.

There. I feel better.

Hey Sco sorry to hear about your trials bud.. yes you should contact your MP to speed up the process...as much as I am happy.. i feel terrible for those that have waited far longer than the processing time to be reunited.

Thanks, Ikon. I am very happy for you! I was just in Manila for 18 days on business and I was thinking of any excuse to get to the Canadian embassy . The company I work for brings a lot of TFWs over and I happened to meet with 34 of them who had their visas approved. At least things are moving on that end. :)

Nope.. my wife was even shocked at the decision made. I usually check ECAS everyday since we got an email from CEM about prioritizing our application.. so I'm guessing they will contact you as to when your passport will be returned with or without the visa..

Thanks trusesmile.. but wow the ANIMOSITY of people on other threads... as soon as you say Yolanda affected.. they cringe at you LOL!

anyways folks.. lets talk about what can we expect as sponsors from our wives when they get here LOL?

I think the animosity was directed at one person that was trying to get the visa immediately because of the typhoon but then wait until april or may to have her child come to canada because of them graduating and/or being valedictorian. It kind of abused the generosity of the canadian government and affects those that really are affected by the typhoon.

Thanks for the clarification Gooner, Yea i would get mad at that situation. Although I would love for my wife to get here right away.. we have to wait until January-(for my sake and for her sake) I wasn't expecting to cough up 900 or more dollars in december for plane tickets LOL! so if we do get our visa she will have to fly sometime at the end of january.. when payday arrives for me

in my case, CEM did not contact me for the DM, i did not received any emails. i am not frequently checking my ecas status, i did not even saw the change from application received, to in process to dm, i just checked it one day and its DM status already. they said that from DM it will take 1-2weeks for the visa to arrived, mine arrived the day after i saw it. so maybe, i had been DM for weeks already and did not checked it coz i am also waiting for an email, but they did not. so i suggest check ecas frequently.
