On Philippine Airlines, you can reserve a ticket online without paying for it yet.. I wonder if that's it?

Or is it just their way of saying buy a ticket, but if you show up and for some reason you don't get a visa we are not liable :D

Yeah that would be my main concern :)

Will my wife (from visa exempt country) have trouble entering Canada with a one way ticket? She's in the final stages (I think as she sent appendix a form in last month). I'll be with her and she will have about $10,000 with her plus she has ties to Japan (bank account, etc).

I stupidly bought two one way tickets for us not thinking this might be a problem.
I think technically you should have a round trip, but others have been successful on a one way fare, just explain everything to the officer upon entry.

:o Filipino buffets! I had to google that one, and I saw there's 12 Filipino restaurants in Winnipeg??! We have a measly one restaurant here.. it's new. It would be nice if it were a buffet!

The Filipino community here is huge. The largest in the country now. Winnipeg is Manila's sister city and as of last year Tagalog is now the second most spoken language in the city. It displaced French. A few more years and it will displace English :P :P.

Most of the people in my delivery area are Filipinos and are either related to each other or from the same area of the Philippines. I told 1 customer I was married to a Filipina and within a month they all knew I was married to a Filipina. :o

Thanks. Does anyone know of someone who was refused entry?

I read that airlines are more likely to stop someone and make them buy a ticket before departure. That's better than being refused at the POE but still a hassle.

You got a pretty good price for your airfare.
All the best to your upcoming journey in Canada with your husband :)

Thanks Iay! :)

FWIW - This wasn't for entering Canada, but I had an airline stop me from boarding the plane at the gate once for not having a ticket out of the country I was traveling to. I had to buy a ticket right away while they held the plane for me. Nothing was said at the check-in counter, only at the gate. It was an expensive experience.

When moving to the Philippines with my wife with one way tickets, I purchased a cheapo $50 throwaway ticket from mnl to hong kong beforehand just to be sure it wouldn't happen again.

Hi Dan, did you get any communication with CEM? My husband's medical expired today and I was wondering about remedical. ::)

it would be best if you guys start asking them for the remedical form.

yes, OFWs don't need to pay travel tax...i don't know if they have new rules now but that's what I know.

How about immigrants and dual citizens, do they have to pay the Phil. Travel Tax?

Yeah sis, I just emailed CEM earlier informing that husband's medical expired today and asked whether he would need a remedical or would they do medical extension as posted in CIC bulletin. I know CEM doesn't do extension, but I asked anyway. Hopefully they give out remedical form so we can do it while waiting for final review.

Kind of scared they might put apps with expired medical on the bottom pile. ??? ???
