The Bar Girl syndrome is a reality but I don't think it is commonplace.

It's a baad place. You know what, Moose's dog used to run down there and sniff all the girl dogs.. they eventually gave it to the field workers for Kilawin.

question.. if my husband add me as an authorized user on his credit card, will that help me build my credit?

No, since he is still ultimately responsible for the card. Credit agencies have no way of knowing if you are paying the bill or your husband is. You need a card in your name. Or take out a small loan and pay it back. Things like that. While I hate them, store credit cards might be a good start since they give them to practically anyone so one should be easy to get. The downside is the interest rate. Just make sure you pay it in full at the end of each month and that shouldn't be an issue.

I see.. Store credit cards like the ones from ikea, the brick and such?

Yeah. They are always trying to hand them out so that might be a good starting card. One you will use would be better than Ikea or the Brick. Maybe a President's Choice card for Loblaws (groceries), or The Bay, Sears, Canadian Tire, etc. Then after a while with good payment history on that apply for a Visa or MasterCard.

In the end though you should dump those cards because the interest rates are terrible. But to establish credit they can be useful.
