i understand what you've been thru, its not easy to be in that situation. for me, giving a call to DHL branch in your place and informing them that you are expecting a package from CEM is fine, but telling them to open your package is way beyond. your case is a rare circumstance that happened. and besides, isn't it against the law opening someone else's packages...

Not a rare case....it happened to 10 visa issues, and according to DHL.....Embassy screws up all the time.

It's not illegal to open your document if you give them authority to do so....and I sure recommend it.

You guys can do what you want, I've been trying to help, so if it happens to you, or anyone is a victim of identity fraud or originals documents lost....etc....etc

Don't say I didn't warn you, so I'll just say I told ya so in advance....again...happens all the time.

Cheers!

yep you are right... it happened to 10 visa issues as what you've mentioned.. but isn't there are hundred thousands Filipinos/Filipinas who migrates to Canada every year...anyway, for the DM's out there, its your choice what you want to do...

thats basically what will happen... for all you know, you already landed in canada before you packed your baggage...

It happened to 10 visas and we represent 10%, good odds that it would happen to one of us.

Yep...so do the math, 10 as per our occurrence, several mixups as per wwwexpress manager, thousands of emigrations every year....hmmm

could you rephrase i dont understand, its over my head, i missed something

i meant, if DHL starts opening every package from CEM before they deliver it to the recipient, identity theft might happen. you will wonder how come in the papers you already landed in canada even if you are still in the phil...

Well...I trust DHL more than Embassy, and certainly more than person x that opens their envelope with the wrong contents...

They can easily open while on the phone with you to quickly verify contents name is same as package name, then seal back up.

Anyways...don't want to argue the subject anymore....fact is it WILL happen again. So what are you guys going to do to protect yourselves?

This may be a first but I agree with Dojan. DHL employees are not authorized to open mail. You have no idea who is opening it and it doesn't take much for the info in a passport to get photocopied and the person's identity to be stolen. I would never ask anyone at Canada Post to open my mail and we have some pretty stringent security checks.

GCMS notes were due yesterday. Nothing again today. What a clown school.

It's up to you....your taking more of a risk letting person x get your documents, and DHL are opening them anyway when there is an issue......which happens waaaaaay more than you think!

the person x is just as worried as you coz obviously the one who will receive your package is waiting for their package from CEM as well. anyway, its up to those DM's applicant to do want they think is best for them. you had been thru with this situation, i'm not, so i am not in the position to tell you what to do.
i'm just expressing my opinion for possible identity theft. ;)

They have to give you them in 30 days by law.. it's one of the most important features of the Access to Information and Privacy Act. Then again, you sent yours by real mail.. so you have to wait until the date they would have received it.
