Thanks! And thanks to Luckyman as well. I don't know what was wrong with my email notifications, I just assumed it was a quiet day around here ::)

He agreed pretty quickly to go to Cebu.. tee-hee. I'm just looking up flights on Zest and I found a super cheap hotel 1 block away, Sampaguita Suites, although there are 2 different branches and I have to find the right one :-X Rooms are 698P a night so he can deal with no free continental bfast ;D I will just feel less stressed about the final steps when I know he got his CFO mostly out of the way.

I noticed it starts at 2pm - how far in advance do you think he should be there? We only have leeway of 1 day so we have to get in to the seminar :D
tell your hubby to be there as early as 8am, mine took 2 days total as i forgot to bring our marriage certificate and they require me an original one so i have to get it from NSO cebu. and be sure to bring proof of relationship, CFO is cebu is insane, they act as if they have any say regarding with your visa.
it was not a counselling for me, it was interrogation.

I don't get it....why is everyone saying 8am?

I guess better safe than sorry.

Hi everyone i just wanted to ask how the timeline works and what am i waiting for now. here is my story. i live in canada and sent my wifes application 2nd week of FEB. i got an email first week of march from canada imigration saying i have been approved to sponsor my wife. From there i havent heard anything from them yet. i went to the cic website today to check the status and it says decision made under my name and under my wifes name it says application recieved. So now i dont have any idea what i am waiting for now.
If someone can please help me on what i should do or what i should expect. I would really appreciate it.
THANKS!!!!

It was one of the longest and stressful days I ever had .. I was up at 4am, flight to Cebu and having deal with CFO people. I was there mid March and I dont think Sinulog has something to do why there are lots of people there. They require CFO certificate in change of name with foreign spouse, for filipinos who'll go abroad for work and migrate. Their office isn't equipped to handle a number of applicants each day so release of certificate/stickers is up to 7pm!

Your partner will be ok.. :-) if he can be there 6 or 7am, better... I talked to some people there and some were as early as 5:30am.. He doesnt have the visa yet, right?if the visa arrives,he needs to go back there for the sticker. I need to go back too soon when I have my visa. But I read that they do it at the airport,il call Cfo soon to confirm.

My wife is in this exact same position, and had to do i for the same reason, once she finally knew she was going to get her passport back after changing her name, she was instructed to attend one of these workshops. Which she did in Manila (she has family there). She has her passport, but apparently, has to get some sort of stamp/sticker at the airport before she can leave. Sounds rather like a cash grab to me, but what ever, as long as it doesn't create some idiot snafu right at the end when she is ready to hope a plane and come back here.

For what it is worth, some people here are talking about the lack of updates and such on ecas, my sponsorship application was approved third week of October last year, and I received a email stating I was approved blah blah blah, and they where forwarding my wife's application for PR to CEM. But my status on (as sponsor) on ecas has never changed from application in process. And of course the wife's just says application received.

ok thanks luckyman at least now i have a brief idea. Should i keep checking the status on cic or its just a waste of time

Ecas is useless. It is updated after the fact from what I can tell. I was under the impression at the beginning of the process that Ecas was a means to view the process in realtime not a view of your application as a time capsule.

Best thing you can do is monitor the spreadsheets out there.....then when your getting close start checking eCas

Sad but true, just like most government reporting.

You can sign up for the online ecas tracker tool. Somebody independently made it, and you have to enter all your details. The person was apparently a member of the forum and supposed to be very trustworthy. They will email you with any updates to your ecas. However, it didn't stop me from checking it daily anyways. It just stops me from checking it 5x a day. The email will arrive a day after your ecas changes so it's not immediate.

Doljan, I'm a bit scared now! We don't even have a marriage certificate. I think this could go badly :-[
Maybe if they deny it he can try Manila :P

pictures for both of you is sufficient enough i think, they will see it anyway that you are not married so its expected that he can't provide marriage cert., tell him to bring enough evidence, like 10 pics and some letters and postcards...

Okay, maybe I will do what I am best at and organize some documents for him to print and bring :D

I did a really good relationship history picture story word document. haha. Maybe he can print that out and we don't have a lot of letters or postcards, but maybe the letters of support would do, and some phone bills or chat logs? ??? I know he can make it happen.. he's such a charismatic person, people and animals love him :-*

Thanks for your help Doljan! I hope you are warming up a bit.

yes, it's disgusting how little information is provided and updated leaving people lost in limbo. They really need to hire more people and reduce this bottleneck in the process. Appl sent in september, approved, forwarded to manila and received on Nov.9/12.... and that's all i know... no letter... no update... nothing...
