I wouldn't try it unless you have to. As I said, it is only worth trying if they absolutely will not give you the sticker.

Sure, you could fly via HKG as a 'tourist', but you will have to pay the 3,000PHP travel tax if you do it that way.

I just book flights online via Expedia, Philippine Airlines, or if I'm feeling especially cheap, with Cebu Pacific online to HKG, then another flight from HKG to Canada. You can also fly to HKG through Cebu and skip Manila. I found one way on Expedia for $630, beginning of June - Air Canada and Cathay Pacific.

The catch is - you have to scan and email to your Wife the credit card you used to buy the ticket with . They always want to see the credit card or photocopy.

Isn't there a field during the online purchase that you can check for:
"I'm booking this flight for someone other than myself"

I'd love to look at the Cebu/HK/CAN route.....but I think I'll be spoiling my wife with Phil air.

Phil Air is great - 12 hours to Vancouver. Hardly any time to be jetlagged!
One time to save $100 I did Cebu-Macau-Ferry-HKG-Vancouver.
Yes you will enter her details on the ticket - but they will still require a photocopy of your credit card. They often will tell you while booking on the website.

Hmmm. I really hope we get at least 12 PPRs a week for the month of May.
And they return all the passports witiin 2 weeks

My wife is in this exact same position, and had to do i for the same reason, once she finally knew she was going to get her passport back after changing her name, she was instructed to attend one of these workshops. Which she did in Manila (she has family there). She has her passport, but apparently, has to get some sort of stamp/sticker at the airport before she can leave. Sounds rather like a cash grab to me, but what ever, as long as it doesn't create some idiot snafu right at the end when she is ready to hope a plane and come back here.

I believe your wife has to go back to where she got the course and get the stamp after her vuisa is in her passport

I just wanna ask I checked my wifes application on line and it says IN Process since Oct 16/12 no decision made.... and decision made on here medicals... is this a good sign.... oh glad you like Nashville .... I,m Canadian but play in Nashville....but home is Hamilton..oh and the best flight is Kor air lines... from Manila... a little more money but no stop in the US... hoping my PPR is just before May 7/13 our first ann... well after the weekend i,m off to Manila...from Nashville.... flight and hotel...in Makati is just over 5000.00 dollars ....I just hope everything works fast for all of us we need to be with our best friend an lover.... Philiippine airlines have flights direct to canada also, there are many airlines you can take without stopping in the US, i dont think there are many with new visas planning on stopping in US

you are right, they dont have any right to refuse, i think they are just power tripping.... supposedly it is guidance and counselling seminar, as the name implies, it will guide and give info for filipinos to help settle abroad. but sadly, it is not what's happening, its more like interrogation, again i'm speaking only for my experience...

We were thinking of taking the CFO in Cebu since we live in Davao City but with the stories of nasty processors there maybe Manila is better.

If they are rude to mixed couples how much more so will they be to gay couples!?
