If everything was fine with your medical report, there's not much chance that you'll be asked to do a new one. They often extend them for the duration of the application process.

Take a deep breath, and relax. Your police clearance certificate will be just fine for the remainder of your application process. The key is to make sure it's not more than 3 months old when you SUBMIT the application.
Hi just beaning hanging around in the background and just want to say Thank you.... if i thought i was alone in my endeavors in bring my wife over to Canada i would off surely jumped off the nearest tall building..(just kidding but you no)

Just request a CENOMAR from NSO and once they find that you are married they will give you an AOM (Advisory of Marriage), rather than a CENOMAR. The officer you spoke to perhaps didn't make a connection between the two.

Hi guys,
I've been looking on the spreadsheet, and I've been thinking of this for awhile.. have you noticed that since the beginning of the year they have only done passport requests for about 2 weeks worth of applicants? It seems since January 1, they have been doing PPR's for people whose sponsorship approvals were between August 15th-30th.
I think this signifies a major slowdown in operations.. more so then the 12 months they calculated based on data for last year. What are your guys's thoughts?

It does look like they are processing in order of arrival to Manila which is bad when you consider how much the dates were bouncing around in stage 1. Like 2 July people getting visas while the bulk of June is still in early stage 2. It would be more fair to all to queue them by original submission date.

But it is hard to say there is a slowdown. Processing is just uneven. Like nothing for a week, then 3 visas the following week. It is really hard to say without the full data. We only make up a small subset of it. Maybe we are the unlucky ones?

Maybe they're like 'doctors'. Don't dare let me catch up with my work. I recall the specialist (taking my Dad to see) was borderline if not IRATE with his receptionship that he was seeing his patients on time. I nearly flipped my lid right then and there. Now not that this is proof or anything but perhaps the first viable indicator I've seen that just maybe they want the backlog to remain a constant . . . something that's crossed my mind here and there.

I want to know how the Ankara VO is processing applications in 6 months to 7 months when the processing time says 16 months.

16 months is the time it takes to process 80% of the applications. Therefore, it is not the average. For example in Manila, our processing time is 12 months.

30% of applications could be done in 2 months, 40% in 5 months, until they reach the 80% of it which has gone 12 months in the last quarter.

So it is not impossible to be done within 2-3 months. My cousin's sponsorship only took 3 months (including the Stage 1), this was 2 years ago tho, but still significantly quicker than the usual.

No application should take more than 6 months.

In the Ankara example if the 80% standard applies than it should take at least 8 months to get the first applications completed. So someone getting their application completed in less than 8 months has beaten lottery statistics.

We never really can tell how it's like in the Visa Office. Maybe some applications are just too straightforward to be done in less than usual. Or maybe they do a draw in the VO once a month, and the lucky app will be prioritized. You know I'm joking here right? Anyway, no one can really tell how they process our papers. So, there's not much we can do but trust and wait.

There is no reasoning to how they do things. I watched a video with the head of CIC talking about how the wonderful GCMS system will change everything. I always get apprehensive when I see non-technical people gush about how great a system is and how it will improve everything, because it rarely does. And seeing as this was in 2010 and their processing times have gone downhill since then, I think that apprehension has been validated.

I've been reading about this e-medical and I was wondering what are the chances it would speed up that waiting time when someone has to do the re-medical. Ideally the doctors would transfer an electronic file to the embassy, right? Is it too much to wish for - do you think the doctors offices are actually set up with the right infrastructure to do that?

I think they are looking when Medicals expire... after we waited for our NSO from Manila we then did our medicals which expire in August... we were approved Oct16/12 and transferd to CEM... I paid the amout of 1040.00 in advance like I hope you did....but thats B>S... not faster....but if your app was transferd your application is done right...but with only 126 on the spreadsheet that we just know of and 7 PPR per month it will take 42 months to finish... so I bet we all will have to start all over agian... like it says ...just assume the application is there... I wish I could tell revenue Canada ...assume I paid my taxes...Wouldn,t that be great....so if I do the math right... my wife will have to do 3 more medicals.... and I,ll be 56 and my wife 53 wow at least I,ll know she is in good shape... me I will be dead just waiting.... and then they will ask for more money just hope its sooner.... but our country sounds more like russia in the 80,s or and one more thing if I can say... people with per res should not be allowed to sponser till they are Canadian.... hey my wife would be here by now!!!! hey I,m just Canadian... have to wait same as a Per Res... not right.... I even did the short foem of the 0008 which means she cannot sponser family members... just sit back and hope your wife gets a PPR same as me... keep in touch....

126 divided by 7 = 18 months

Nevertheless, 18 months would be terrible. Gortandmugs, since the published processing times is roughly based on the sponsor approval date (the date the file is sent to Manila) the best way to look at it is this: Since you were approved as a sponsor on Oct 16, 2012 there is a 80% chance you will have your visa by Oct 16, 2013, a 70% chance by Sept 16th, a 50% chance by July 16th and even a 30% chance by June 16th

I would agree that PR's should not be able to sponsor. Where is the impetus to become a citizen?

I think it's not right to say this. Not all citizens are "helpful" in the econony. On the other hand, there are lots of PRs who give huge income to the government. No wonder the only difference between a PR and citizen is the citizen's right to vote. To think, PRs and citizens have the same emotions when it comes to being with their loved ones, so I see no reason to discriminate PRs from citizens when it comes to sponsoring their family.

Nevertheless, good luck on your application. :)
