Just to note, crossing the border often enough to merit getting the card is not criteria to get one, or not. When asked why, I simply said I was handed a brochure when returning to Canada once and I wanted to make crossing the border more expeditious. Also note, you are still subject to border...
I'm all for it! No, I don't think it will slow down citizenship applications. And that's 27,300 visas that won't need to apply for renewal, extension, etc.
Bad timing to go away. Apparently the iron is hot for November 2019 applicants. If I were you I would just hold off another month to two and you could be all done with this thing.

Sankey said immigration officials will request new criminal checks from other federal agencies in the event clearances have expired before a citizenship ceremony.
“It is not necessary for applicants to reapply,” she said. “Once valid...
Doing all of what you are planning to should be excessive in the least. I suggest to apply to renew your PR card after 730 days (2 years), since that's the requirement for PR. Then using today's posted timeline you'll have a valid PR card 129 days after that and you'll be ready to apply for...
I hate to be too repetitive but I've been up and down CIC's website looking for this info and I can't find it. I take it, the one year validity rule you're referring to also applies to those who require a police clearance for their citizenship application?? May you comment or post a link to...
Just to ease the minds of those getting ready to renew, here is our PR renewal timeline:
Application received: Oct. 4, 2017
PR card in our mailbox: Jan. 2, 2018
Applicant was outside Canada 431 days for the applications' 5-yr time period. Much of this was PR eligible but at the application...
The OP will need to submit TWO applications for citizenship, one for the husband and one for the wife. Two applications, two receipts, two envelopes, one for each individual.
I think you have brought up a very important point. I would say your logic is correct, in that the requirements were indeed different the day before. So, "yes" that would matter. Wait until the 12th. It's legally permissible for those who were also eligible on October the 10th.
This is just my two cents.
Based on the quote you provided, "no" it would not be required.
HOWEVER, personally I am expecting this instruction to change, and here's why. Since the new rules will allow days prior to becoming PR to count for half a day (up to a maximum of one year), I am...
Bull$#&* !! I disagree, recommended by whom? "Reinforcing your presence" is done via number of days in Canada, NOT by applying together with your spouse.
