Not doubting you here, but has that been confirmed?

This will be the catalyst to "essential service" them now.
Always good to ask for confirmation. I should have provided the link Scos did.

I wish the news had been better though this was never going to end quick and clean. I am not the only one who held this opinion. Just the most vocal.

Another interesting read is here:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/156236828/23-7-13-TBS-Letter-to-PAFSO

This was the TB's response to PAFSO's offer for arbitration. PAFSO has made all of the communications between the union and the government available on that page.

Interesting... So to be clear they are saying they will enter into binding arbitration as long as...

1. You accept the current offer with respect to raises.

2. You give up your claim to equal pay (but we will commission a study which may be referenced with regards to this issue the next time bargaining comes around in 3, 4, 5, hell maybe even 10 years from now...).

3. By the way, did we mention that the main issue we want to deal with in arbitration is being able to lay off or fire more of you and possibly replace others with contract or outsourced workers (a la new VACs)? Well now you know...

4. We want to have a say in who the arbitrator is, and you can have a say too, since the whole point is to delay the process further because you know we can't agree on anything!

I think that sums it up pretty well.

Oh come on, get some perspective!

Think of all those poor suffering students and tourists! :'( They are suffering far worse than us. Or at least that's what the government is telling us... Must be really traumatic that some will not be able to go to Canada's Wonderland or see Quebec City! :'( And the poor international students (and their money) won't get fawned over by the Canadian universities... :'( All that money going elsewhere! :'( And the cheap imported labour! :'( Companies might have to <*gasp!*> pay Canadians to do the work! :'(

So remember who the real victims are...

The arbitrator is a joke since they would never agree to one that would find their offer unfair.

No. Basically the "completeness" of the package would be unknowable. Don't you suppose everyone would say their package is "complete"? After all, do you think people send packages knowing them to be incomplete? So the data recorded would be useless. Even with what is there now, one might assume that if additional docs were requested that would mean it was incomplete, but that could also be in error. Some apps may simply prompt CIC to request further info yet the app was "complete" with regards to the checklist while in others the app may have been incomplete.

As for the nationality, I rarely get complete data for what is in the sheet now, adding more personal details that don't get provided just adds more problems for me with little added utility. At this point the sheet is functional, and with having to lock it I already will have more work to do on it without adding new information.

If you really want to try something like that, feel free to download a copy and make whatever changes you would like.

Seeing as though the spreadsheet is for Manila applicants the nationality is pretty straight forward. Canadian (citizen or PR) sponsor and Filipino principal applicant.

Awww great! Now he bring common sense into the discussion! :p

I would think anyone applying from countries outside the Phil's would be better served with a spread sheet of their own specific to their own country, even though they are all going through Manila, I would imagine they all have their own ques.

I understand where marcj is coming from though.

Ok, another quick question. So once the dust finally settles with the strike/job action etc. and my wife and son get their papers and make the trip over on the big silver bird, the only thing my wife is planning on bringing is their clothes personal photos stuff of that nature. Nothing else, no dishes, pots pans, furniture, toys etc.

That will (of already is) be in place as soon as they set foot off the plane (toys or us loves me :) ) do they need to declare what is basically the clothes on their back? Or better yet, is there taxes/fees when declaring items such as that?

For anything they bring with them on the flight they will fill out a customs form. Make sure they bring no meats or vegetables. I would suggest lots of cashews though (Those things are fooking goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood) and then you can mail them to me. :D

Anything she ships surface post she would fill out a customs slip with the parcel and declare it personal goods not for resale.

We discussed that, and agreed she loves the stuff I already have, (she was so amazed all my dishes where Corelle :) and my fancy pots and pans etc. So it is just the clothes they are bringing. I have already gotten read the fifth degree a couple of times for buying to much stuff ahead of their arrival. :)

And forget the cashews, I want Malboroughs ! :)
