Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

As far as I know, this is normal. You typically don't hear anything back until you get your visa. The first clue that your application is being worked on is when your file goes to "in process" on the CIC website. It took us about 6 months after SA to get in-process, but it's longer for some.

Yes, including SA. No, it went to in-process first. Good luck and be patient.

Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

It took us a little over a year (including the strike last summer). Probably would have been closer to 8-9 months without the strike. You won't have to send a passport, because Japan is visa exempt.

Thanks! No, I resisted doing a follow-up. I emailed them in Sept a couple of times when the medicals expired and we didn't get a re-med request. Didn't want to pester them again.

    Foreign Service - Strike?

The conspiracy theorist in me agrees with your assessment, though purposefully hurting future voters would be an unwise move. Harper is smarter than that. It's all about money and posturing. The conservatives will spin the strike into a positive for them during the next election. Speeches will...

    Foreign Service - Strike?

It's all very interesting... The final hope for most people is that the government legislate PAFSO back to work in October, but if the government were to do that they would force themselves into binding arbitration with PAFSO. This is exactly what the government wants to avoid. As long as the...

    Foreign Service - Strike?

I personally think this is bad news. We were all hoping that the PSLRB would force both sides into binding arbitration. They did not do that. PSLRB ruled that the Treasury Board bargained in bad faith and then "encouraged" both sides to come to an agreement. All these weeks of waiting for...

Ah ok, thank you Tagum. Sorry to hear about your extremely drawn out process. Your patience is an example for the rest of us.

Sorry, but what is appendix A? My common law is Japanese and we didn't receive anything. Our ecas changed to in-process in July.

Another interesting read is here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/156236828/23-7-13-TBS-Letter-to-PAFSO This was the TB's response to PAFSO's offer for arbitration. PAFSO has made all of the communications between the union and the government available on that page.

Despite all of the craziness, we got "In Process" today on eCas. It looks like the update was late, given that eCas says they started processing on July 18th. Scos, hadn't PAFSO already withdrawn all services from Manila? Was that statement important because they are withdrawing from new...

    Foreign Service - Strike?

For anyone who wants an update: -PAFSO asked government to go into binding arbitration -Treasury Board agreed to go into arbitration assuming that the arbitration has certain conditions -PAFSO read over conditions and has sent a reply to the Treasury Board's conditions -we're now waiting to see...

    Strike Might End Next Week

I agree, the government knows that going into arbitration will result in a compromise. Clement has made it clear that they are not willing to change their offer. I hope that you all remember this at the next election and vote whoever has the best chance of toppling the conservatives.

    Manila Processing times.....

The official posted processing time on CIC's website is 14 months for the Manila office. You can get a pretty good idea of processing times by looking at this spreadsheet: h t t p s ://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCLbbZupkY_dHJRT2R1alhXS2xaUzFTcHZsTUhVbHc#gid=0 Right now PPRs are...
