Thanks everyone. Got something to work with now.

Yes the divorce on my end isn't finalized yet. Hence conjugal

Then that is why CIC would have an issue with your application. You should have done the divorce first and then applied.

Are you Canadian married in Canada?

Yes, I would agree with CJG, that would be why. The divorce would need to be finalized. In Steph C case the divorce of her spouse was impossible and she had documentation to prove that.

Hi guys! Anybody who is applying only for a dependent child with both parents as PR?? just wanted some news... We applied dec 4 2012... But haven't had a change in color or haven't had any information regarding it since. Just getting frustrated since i have to be back in canada by september and i just cant leave my 2 y/o here. :(

Just got off the phone with my MP....here's what they said:

They called their contact in CIC who, I guess, looks at my GMCS notes and confirm that they have my wife's and kids passports and they confirmed the changing of my wife's address. Here's the part that I have never heard before. They told me the "bring up date" or so called for my file is July 16th. We dropped off the passports May 27. Why does it take so long to look at our file? 7 weeks! Where I am pissed is my wife's medical expires August 15th. I just know they are going to make her do a re-med now. Lazy bastards!

Look at the spreadsheet :

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCLbbZupkY_dHJRT2R1alhXS2xaUzFTcHZsTUhVbHc#gid=0

It will give you an idea of where the VO is. A lot of people applying in October just got PPR in may

Yeah, i wonder if the bring up date is that 45 days thing that they mention in the emails that people get for additional info and PPRs. Some people seem to get it looked at earlier so maybe you will get lucky.

Yes. The bring forward date is the 45 days they wait until they review your file again. That 45 days is in order to give people the time necessary to gather the documents and send them.

Maybe someone can answer a few questions. Our app has been in for awhile now and after numerous mailings to add to our file (trips 4times per year) we received a letter questioning if our application is serious. Our relationship is 2.5 years and app is coming up to a year
1. Our filing is conjugal and there's a tone of prejudice in the letter. Are the files reviewed by Canadians or Filipinos.
2. Anyone have a sense as to the turn around time on apps. The sponsorship was approved almost immediately
3. I heard but can't confirm that the immigration workers are on some kind of strike or work-to-rule.

I apologize to those who find my question about who reviews the files rude. My lady has had a difficult time by Philippine immigration officers every time we leave the Philippines to holiday thought Asia. Hence my curiosity if its Canadian immigration office employees or Filipinos working in the immigration office.

Well, many of our apps are coming up on a year. The current posted time is 14 months. If you add another month for stage 1 then your app could take up to 15 months (and sometimes longer, Tagum can tell you about that). I'm not saying it is normal, or right, but it is within the "service time".

Sponsorships are normally complete very quickly. Mine waited unopened for over two months, but once opened was processed in under a week. Currently most stage 1 approvals are averaging about a month. That is the simple and fast part. As I said above, stage 2 posted time for Manila is 14 months. And it is during stage 2 that most of the heavy lifting is done (both metaphorically and physically if you have seen that VO picture :D).

Yes, there is a strike affecting many VOs in terms of staff walkouts. So those VOs will be very slow. So far it hasn't hit Manila though there is also a general work-to-rule order which will also slow things down to a lesser extent.

The thing I would be worried about is that they asked you if your application was serious. Did they actually put it in those terms? If so you might be concerned about the quality of your relationship proofs. I don't know what kind of proof you sent but you need much more proof as conjugal than as married because marriage forms a legal bond but conjugal has no "tangible" bond. It is this bond you have to establish. One of their biggest concerns would be your current wife. Many relationships reconcile and they have no way to know yours won't. There may also be a number of unresolved financial commitments tied up with the marriage that could be problematic.

So while it is good that you visit 4 times a year, telling them this says nothing. They will want to see passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipts, and other solid evidence. They will also want some kind of proof you were living together during your visits (but unlike some people, you don't need to send pics in the shower together :D). And giving them some idea of how the two of you plan to live when she gets here may be useful as well (in light of the unresolved divorce).

As someone else already mentioned, the Manila Conjugal thread would be the best place for you to check out. They have discussed all these issues and also many have had to deal with interviews and appeals which you might have to deal with as well. It is always best to be prepared.

Hello! I just need some help/advise on how to get a PHYSICAL COPY of the application I submitted in 2008 when I applied for a visa to come here in Canada from the Philippines.

I know I should have kept a copy of the one's I submitted that time but all I have is just the scratch forms that I filled up.

I applied for PR application in 2010 under spousal sponsorship and until now there is no decision yet. (inland)

One of the red flags that they are raising is that...

The time I applied (I WAS SINGLE MOM back then), they said that I did not declare my son at the time of application and that I misinterpreted myself....

ofcourse THAT IS NOT TRUE.!

So I really wanna see the actual file I submitted back then...

How can I request for that? please help! Thank you!

There are two child sponsorships on the spreadsheet and neither have completed as yet. One is April20 who submitted their app 2012-05-17. It got to the PPR stage then got held up on additional documentation. The second is Toughgirl from 2012-09-13 and who also made it to PPR in May. So your timeline isn't unusual.

You need to order the GCMS notes to see when they came upon this bit of info. What kind of application did you fill out?

We handed in everything requested by May 10th and only just got in process. And from what I have heard from my MP they still don't have the medical.

It was a TRV/ Work permit application

I ordered the Foss notes before and that's where we found out that the IO that reviewed our file in Vegreville was questioning about this....

* Single No dependent

I actually corrected this already, I sent a fax to Canadian Embassy Manila many times but I never received an answer from them...

Now, I want to have a copy of the actual forms that I submitted to them...

If I orequest the GCMS notes... where will I send it? thanks

To be honest I'm not really sure of the process under TRV/OWP.

Are you in Canada?
