Nope. I'd would have liked to go and do the whole trip with her but money and time are tight. I just want her to get here so we can get on with ours lives. There is still so much work for us to do just to get her settled.

Hi! Does a sponsor and applicant need to submit an AOM or just the sponsored applicant? thanks!

Just new here. I've been reading this forum the past few weeks and I chanced upon a comment that a straight forward case/application usually gets processed faster. Is this still true today or is this true at all based on those who applied and are on this forum? What does a straight forward case/application mean anyway? Any specific examples. thanks!

The fastest would be a Permanent resident applying for his or her spouse without children that was married for several years. Or Canadian citizen married to spouse with 1 or 2 children who both are the parents of (children are Canadian citizens living abroad, with lots of details proving children are from both),,,,and the applicant didn't travel to other countries. All paper works included,,,,,no previous marraiges,,,,,,,there is probably others,,,,this is only what I think

Thanks Tagum! Appreciate your prompt response. I needed the answer just to manage my expectations regarding the processing times.

Maybe someone can answer a few questions. Our app has been in for awhile now and after numerous mailings to add to our file (trips 4times per year) we received a letter questioning if our application is serious. Our relationship is 2.5 years and app is coming up to a year
1. Our filing is conjugal and there's a tone of prejudice in the letter. Are the files reviewed by Canadians or Filipinos.
2. Anyone have a sense as to the turn around time on apps. The sponsorship was approved almost immediately
3. I heard but can't confirm that the immigration workers are on some kind of strike or work-to-rule.

I apologize to those who find my question about who reviews the files rude. My lady has had a difficult time by Philippine immigration officers every time we leave the Philippines to holiday thought Asia. Hence my curiosity if its Canadian immigration office employees or Filipinos working in the immigration office.

For your answers.

1. I know steph C has applied under the conjugal classification and her partner made it here. So it does happen. There is a thread for Conjugal partners so maybe specific questions could be directed there.

2. There is a spreadsheet done by scos that should give you a good idea..

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCLbbZupkY_dHJRT2R1alhXS2xaUzFTcHZsTUhVbHc#gid=0

3 .The Canadian immigration workers at the Embassy are Canadians. There is a strike on right now, but the manila embassy is not part of the major missions that have stopped all the non vital application processing.

Conjugal applications are all treated with suspicion and will generally take longer to process as more documentation is required to prove that it is a genuine and lasting marriage-like relationship.

I have no idea what documents you sent to support your application but I think conjugal can only apply when there are absolute barriers for the couple not being able to marry or physically live together in a common-law relationship. If you have assumed financially responsibility for your partner and he/she is barred from getting divorced then I'm not sure just what else you can do to prove your case.
