My wife also did hers no problem... Said the interview was 5 minutes. But apparently Cebu is the place not to go!

My wife wasn't even aware of it. She had applied for a new passport with her new surname and the clerk at the passport office mentioned it. I guess the CFO seminar was close to the passport office so she walked over to book an appointment and there was one about to start that was mostly empty. I guess she just showed them her new passport and that was it.

I don't often read my horoscope.. so don't think I'm weird! But I saw this today and I like it!!

The next eclipse will be a good one for you. It will arrive as a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus 20 degrees on May 9 or May 10. It will help you move ahead on important overseas travel (or to make living arrangements abroad if you are moving for a long time or permanently). Do you need a visa, green card, and passport or to settle immigration or citizenship matters? This eclipse will help you do so - start getting busy just after May 10 for best luck.

We're just starting here! I will probably be up for awhile :) Good thing I just turned down a lucrative offer to work for free tomorrow at 8:30 am! Who works for free??? I don't know what's wrong with people.

I don't think they are allowed to "fail" you as it isn't a test. It is supposed to be an information seminar. Its like that seminar they force you to take before you get married.

Note the wording:
After you comply with all the requirements and finish the counseling session, you will be given the Guidance and Counseling Certificate which you will have to bring along with other pertinent documents, to the CFO, for registration.

The "requirements" are the docs they ask you to bring, filling out the form, and the fee. Notice there is NOTHING about passing or failing.

Also...
You may avail of the Guidance and Counseling Session even while you are still processing or waiting for your visa. If such is the case, you will only be issued the GCC. Once your visa is released, you will return to CFO to continue with your registration. The CFO sticker will then be affixed on your passport.

Avail? As in "Use or take advantage of"? Sure doesn't sound like a test does it?

Yet some people love to abuse even perceived positions of authority. I would say if you run into one of these you can either complain up the line, or just go to a different location. For me personally I think I would complain till they hand it over. :P

She is cool. She doesn't worry about anything. I guess that's my job. I'm the planner and the strategist. She is the executor.

I'm sure your man will do fine. He can really say anything he wants. How would they know the difference?

They just love that word "avail"

Why didn't I think of that? I should have fed him some nice stories :) I guess the catch-22 is they don't completely list the documents they need. Like right now, insisting on a passport. They asked for an NBI in lieu of ID but then changed their minds as well.

they had a new policy, when you get or make changes in your passport nowadays, you need to attend cfo seminar, and that's easy.
but for spouses/partner of foreign nationals who will immigrate, then that is where this madness seminar kicks in.

Not sure I get what you mean. Anyone requiring a CFO has married a foreign national.

ahaha...the madness starts after that 2pm seminar... they will interview one on one, and thats where the power grabbing officer will ask for whatever they like...ahaha
