The above is the guidline from the CIC website. That being equal can somebody tell me what my points should be? I have 13 years of primary and secondary education. I have a 2 year diploma and i also have completed 2 years of an unfinished degree. Also my wife has a 2 year diploma. I have been awarded 15 points. Is this right as it doesn't seem to be.

- don't consider your incomplete degree for any points.
- please inform me what is the minimum requirement for admission to the diploma you completed.
- diploma in which subject?

It has been 49 days since I sent my sputum culture and still waiting for my report. My X-ray will be done next Wednesday . Hope to send both report together . Best of luck to all.

I think the culture report is done after 8 weeks as per the letter. But in my case, my DMP told me the result will be over in 10 weeks! (Which will be in mid january). Goodluck to us!

First of all a big thanks to Trevor and Jo, Sabu, Yolex, Mr E and Aiden for your comments. I know you all lead busy lives so i really do appreciate taking the time to respond with informed replies.

I emailed my consultant about the reduction in the the Employment points ( she had failed to spot that i was awarded 21 points in the Access Forms but then deducted 2 points further down the line- some consultant eh?) She said this is unusual and does not make sense. She has written to LVO so i will wait for a reply before i comment again. It looks as though i had 69 points and was deducted 2 for work experience and a further 2 for Education! How unlucky is that?

Finally the consultant told me i will need to get a Canadian lawyer if i get no joy with LVO as i will be dealing with a higher authority and she is only an immigration consultant. That's where things stand for now so i thank you all again and will post as soon as i have something to tell.

If ever your reconsideration letter is denied, you can appeal your case but it will cost you a lot(the hiring of the lawyer + the court hearing fees). So pray that your case will get consideration and i hope your CO did her best to prove the miscalculation of the VO. Best of luck to you!

i am really sorry to hear about ur predicament. but u r doing the right thing by sending the reconsideration letter. the rule regarding education point is pretty clear. if u have 13 years of primary and secondary education and 2 years diploma after tht u will be awarded 20 points. if 13 years of education is inclusive of two years of diploma u will get 15 points. u will not get points for the bachelors degree which u didnt finish unless some certificate or diploma is awarded for completing half of the course which is the case for majority of the professional course such as accountancy and financial management etc. check with the university or college if any such certificate is awarded for incomplete degree.
i hope tht u get the required points through this mean but i feel tht ur best chance lay with the points for experience. good luck! i know we will be cheering for ur MR very soon.

To clarify, points miscalculation can only occur before processing line and not after it.

By getting 2nd line, ur points are ok.....but background checks regarding points awarded by VO continue.......I'm 100% sure that his 2nd line wasn't added in ecas.

@farneybhoy points won't be awarded for incomplete education degree.

I think the culture report is done after 8 weeks as per the letter. But in my case, my DMP told me the result will be over in 10 weeks! (Which will be in mid january). Goodluck to us!

My DMP just phoned me to confirm that my sputum culture report arrived. Nothing has grown and no problem in my lung. However I still have to do CXR . I will send them together next week inshallah .

Points awarded at the Nova Scotia are verified through background checks. If visa officer is not satisfied, one can refuse a case. PER is an initial step to include you for the processing of immigration. There are categories of experience, and marks are awarded only for the experience which is related to that particular profession (Job description given in the related NOC) or otherwise if it is not realted to same profession one has applied for, points can be scored for only certain type of work normally of managerial nature. For example if someone has 12 years of total experience, however, four years of experience did not fall in the professional or managerial category, one will not be awarded any marks for that. Work in retail management may be awarede marks but an ordinary retail worker will not be awarded any marks for any longer experience.

To clarify, points miscalculation can only occur before processing line and not after it.

By getting 2nd line, ur points are ok.....but background checks regarding points awarded by VO continue.......I'm 100% sure that his 2nd line wasn't added in ecas.

@ farneybhoy points won't be awarded for incomplete education degree.

but if your application is refused you still get that second line followed by refusal letter .

Getting a refusal letter after processing line is an indication that background checks have yielded some negative results. An application can be rejected at any stage.......but after 2nd line, the visa officer needs to follow procedural fairness for refusing an application.

Before 2nd line is added, 2 stages of processing take place after file arrives from CIO.
1.Paper screening notes is usually done by a junior visa officer or staff member of VO. Paper screening notes is basically just to check package again for completeness(though its already done at CIO) and inconsistencies in application while viewing file for first time. Points calculation and any basic concerns for ur application are highlighted and application is prepared to be viewed for senior visa officer.

2.The senior VO will then check ur file again, calculate points once again, deeply scrutinize it based on his/her local knowledge(only if he thinks that the points awarded adequately reflect ur ability to become economically established....the second line would be added).

Once processing line is added, and he/she thinks file is ok, he/she also logs if an interview is waived/required and addln docs/MR to be issued. Also even minor inconsistencies on file are magnified at this level and further bg checks are initiated, hence it takes varying level of time for MR to be issued).
