Not exactly.. we were in there yesterday. They wanted to see the PR card first off. We don't have it yet. The card would be tethered to a cash amount. It would be like one of those Visa Debit cards so popular in the US.

They are also dependant upon your employment category. Family class does not qualify.

I checked the link and went to rbc (its near to my place)

and guess what I got approved... with no annual fee, credit card.. visa one . i just needed to open a bank account (with unlimited transactions one)

no this is not true

they just checked my landing paper.. and asked me two pieces of ID...(I had my DL and SIN card).

Hey guys, not to go off topic, but my husband is landing in two days. :D The process went quicker than I expected (and longer than what my husband expected), so I guess it's best to have the lowest of expectations when dealing with the government!

Wahoo!! Congrats on te landing!!!

I guess I fell of the planet around here.... oops!!! We have been crazy busy trying to set up house... so far that hasn't happened! We are pretty much getting ready to pack up again and head out to Nova Scotia. Things in Ontario haven't worked out the way we though or planed them to and instead of draining all of our savings we are going to head to my sisters. On a happy side we finally got my husbands PR card this last week so hurray for that!

You are American I'm guessing. Different conditions apply when your spouse comes from a non-exempt visa country.

I am Indian citizen (visa requiring country). though was living in US.. My VO was LA. but I hold Indian passport.. That is why I got visa on my passport not just COPR. :)

If you had immigrated directly through New Delhi it would be a different story. Coming from the US as a legal(?) resident your conditions are different.

I got my card yesterday, now it's stashed in a drawer. I'm sure I ll find a good use of it.
Moving again???? To be honest I haven't unpacked yet because I had hopes we d move somewhere else hahaha.
We went to the cirque du soleil yesterday (btw amazing), so I unpacked some of my stuff in the morning to find more of my clothes. I was shocked to find some of my older jeans still fit hehehehe. Now that some other boxes are open, I think I will keep unpacking....two months later...

I mean they have different rules for people coming from different country ...

Canada itself is full of immigrated people then this kind of discrimination... not fair..
