It's all good. I have a machette for bushing, and a gun as well(fully licensed). I am a redneck too!

There's a raised garden in the back. We've debated on using it for vegetables, but we really need the landlord to remove all the trees out back first. They're blocking the shade, as well as over hanging the house and POWER LINES.
I'm all for it. I grew up in the country growing beans and corn.
I'm really excited for these things called Garlic Chives. Never heard of them before. Hubby picked them out. We both love garlic - no vampires will ever get us!
(Also, I would totally cut off the vampire's head with my sword.)
((Long story, I have a sword...... I'm the insane redneck weirdo geek of this thread.))
Yes, I will chop off hands over my chocolate.Ms Malawi said:Don't mind her.. Sir is more than the "weirdo" of the thread.. she is the sword swirling, kitty lady. She usually comes with a smile.. however do not get in the way of her and her chocolate treats from hubby..
I'm with you on that. I want to move to acreage outside Calgary. Far outside Calgary. I grew up in a rural area, unincorporated. We had an acre lot with a state designated wetland behind us (and bugs out the wazoo) and a pig farm down the street. I'm now immune to many nasty smells!MadeInCanada said:I have some tomatoes that were passed down from like my great grandma and some corn too. I start everything from seed. I used to work in a green house the chemicals those veggies get before being sold.....YUCK!
I built a little green house last year too, very poorly constructed I must sadly admit... I cut all the trees to make the frame, slaped some plastic on it and called it a day. Er..well, 2 days from start to finish but you know what I mean...I hope.
I live on a lot a little over an acre in size. Next month I will try my hand at tapping maples...
Except for the lack of indoor plumbing and electricity I really envy the pioneers...
I think my husband is a redneck too ,lolMadeInCanada said:It's all good. I have a machette for bushing, and a gun as well(fully licensed). I am a redneck too!
Nice!!! We are planing to get a chunk of land and build and earthship and try to live off of the land as much as we can hopefully in the next 10 years! I don't find it all that odd that I'm willing to try it because all of my family is pretty resourceful and homesteader types... My grandparents were lighthouse keepers so getting it done on your own runs in the blood but my husband is all for these crazy ideas I have and his family is very into every modern convince! He even has been on board with cloth diapering our youngest.MadeInCanada said:I have some tomatoes that were passed down from like my great grandma and some corn too. Ok the cloth diapering idea seems so familiar! Oh yes that's what my parents did. How on earth are you supposed to wash those diapers or do you just toss them? I am afraid of asking my mom.mameelynn said:Nice!!! We are planing to get a chunk of land and build and earthship and try to live off of the land as much as we can hopefully in the next 10 years! You have to scrap the solids into the toilet. Then launder with a phosophorous free detergent. (Yes, I can't spell.)lunas said:Ok the cloth diapering idea seems so familiar! With soap and water! a detergent without additives that doesn't irritate the baby's bum and cold and hot wash cycles. (Surprisingly the same logic as cloth menstrual pads.)lunas said:Ok the cloth diapering idea seems so familiar! Oh yes that's what my parents did. Awesome. Disturbing but I'd do it to save money lol and well if that'd be good for my child.amikety said:You have to scrap the solids into the toilet. Then launder with a phosophorous free detergent. (Yes, I can't spell.)
The liners are best to hang to dry.
I had cloth diapers as well as my brothers
They make ones with snaps now that require NO folding. So easy.
I think my children will be getting cloth diapers. I think my husband be disgusted at first but he will come around.amikety said:You have to scrap the solids into the toilet. Then launder with a phosophorous free detergent. (Yes, I can't spell.)

I've actually read a book on this. (It was a book about saving money. I'm on board.) The author gave the stat of savings of $5000-7000 dollars net. That includes laundering expenses. The range accounts for how often you need to change the child.... some kids just pee a lot.lunas said:Awesome. Disturbing but I'd do it to save money lol and well if that'd be good for my child.
May be ill invent some type of long mechanical arms to do that task. They will keep them as far as possible from me while scrapping heheblueboom said:I think my children will be getting cloth diapers. I think my husband be disgusted at first but he will come around.
