I will be awaiting your news as well CGagnon..I would have thought you'd have PPR by now. Your case is so straight forward, plus you having a lawyer..you'd think you would have flown through the process. Did they even ask you for any further documents thus far? Seems weird they can't even process the straight forward ones fast.

Agreed - filed before mine, sponsor approval three weeks before mine, you'd think it would have received PPR by now. Cases like this one convince me things are still a bit of a mess between Ottawa and LA.

I sent an email September 24th just asking for confirmation of CIC receiving Scott's medical which was done in June and the FBI report sent 3 weeks ago. Still waiting... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

scottandlisag, trust me I understand how frustrating it is...I'm loosing all faith in the system/process and timing...
My sponsorship approval came May 10th, and said my file is being forwarded to LA...we emailed LA in early Aug and they never responded ... then we get an email from CPP-Ottawa to redo medicals for my husband...we sent them Sep 4th and they still have no record of them, call center agent told us it may take up to 3 months to match up information... :'( :'( :'( this is borderline radiculous ...

See that's what irritates me. Those FBI are only good for 3 months. So take 1 week to mail it to them, then they take 1 month to even acknowledge receipt/open it (if they do at all), then another month to add it to your file...on and on. Then, like in our case, they receive it during the 3 months but ask for another one?? I'm surprised their process even allows for 3 months with how incompetent they are!!!

We'll have to redo my hubby's medical as well. So 5 months to process the FBI (that's what the MP told me) then we're looking at 3 months for the medical to get processed?? We'll have to redo the visitor's visa in April 2013 and hopefully we'll get PR by this time next year....lol.

I really expected it would be our application that got lost, had a random collection of added steps inserted, required an extra round of medicals, etc. I feel terrible that others are suffering through the disaster that is the Buffalo shuffle and still glad that we managed to make it through in one piece.

I sure hope they get the mess cleaned up soon because it sure seems like a lot of innocent people are being chewed up by this "cost saving" measure.

If you know that your meds are expired and you are likely to be asked to do more - is it worth being proactive and redoing them for them to be forwarded to add to your application. If it takes 3 months for them to even match them up by the time they get round to requesting them (mine ran out October last year ???) this could add at least another 6 months to an already coming on 18 month application?

I'd actually recommend redoing them now...I know some people say wait for the VO to request them but that's what we did since we read that they might be new forms etc...if you have the money do it...when CPP-Ottawa send us the email for new medicals, they actually specified and i quote "Complete or provide proof of completion of the Immigration NEW medical examination for yourself." and they gave us 60 days to do it...just a suggestion....

Thanks for the advice people. We will get another medical done once we are done with our move to Edmonton next week. Very very good advice indeed :D

If you are not in Canada, you need to have the sponsor order them and you need to sign the consent form. There is a $5 fee because this is an access to information request.

You want the electronic notes. If you have your file number, you should put it on the form. List the office (CPP-O). It's very simple.

Do NOT order a physical copy of your file. That can slow it down.

Good luck!

Thanks I'll get onto booking them right away.

Also emailed my MP this morning, his secretary has just replied saying they have requested a status update from Ottawa which is nice of them, however all it's likely to do is generate a reply that says "you're in the queue, carry on waiting"

Oh well at least I feel like i'm doing something to move things along, even if in reality thats not the case :)

We've been busy moving and I'm really confused coming back here to read these posts. We have been requested to send yet another FBI and LA requested it. We sent it off to the FBI and are now just waiting for them to send us hubby's clearance. We were told initially with our sponsorship approval form to send any documents to LA, then were told that our file was in Ottawa. LA received the 1st FBI we sent, didn't stamp it, then forwarded it to Ottawa. Ottawa didn't end up stamping it either, so they considered that it wasn't valid even though it was valid when they received it. We have proof by email they received it before it expired.

We were requested from LA to send in the new one we are waiting for. I'm just confused now as to where to send it..yet again. Do we send it to LA since they requested it or will it actually be Ottawa. If any of you were in our situation, where would you send it?? I don't want to have to go through this AGAIN because they are giving us wrong information. They had our valid FBI in their hands (we have proof)....I don't know what to do.

Send to both. I had to send a form I forgot and was told to send it to LA. But if no one is answering you, send to both! Then they both have it.

Can't send the FBI to both because they need an original copy.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Hm. Maybe send it to LA and then send the receipt to Ottawa? I only say this because with me, with the form that I didn't have and needed to send, I was told to send to LA.

Get two sets of prints, order two copies. Send one to each office.

Yes, it will cost you an extra $50, but it sure seems worth it.
