many congratulations for all who get one step further...
I suspect your delay is caused by background check. I agree with oly.44, ordering GCMS might give you some insight into what's causing the hold up.

Hang in there mate.

As a matter of fact BGC's are supposed to be completed before issuance of Meds. Usually after that its security check's turn to eat up our time.
Now for the delay part... my guess is that this is more of a tactical/strategic move rather than an outcome of processing loads (BGC etc)....I am assuming this as I have read about 7-8 pak friends who, after their meds, are hanging like this for last 8-10 months.
This move may also has 'something' to do what Kenney is unfolding gradually for new immigrants.....who knows!
Welcome to wonderland :)

hi 9j,

i suspect it is the bkgrnd checks that is delayng my ppr as well. i have lived in 2 countries in addtion to my home country. bt in one country, i changed many addresses, do you think the cic check with each of those addresses abot me? if that's the case, then sure that's a major cause of delay in my case. many thanks mate

I doubt if having different addresses in a country should cause such a huge delay. You scenario is quite similar to mine in that I had lived in 3 other countries as well outside of my country of birth and I had no delay with my PPR after the meds. However, it does appear that background/security checks take longer for people who have lived in some countries. Probably due to the operational link between the CIC and those countries. This however is based on my observation, nothing empirical.

hi canada100,
i lived in one country one city since my birth, but still my case take like 3 year 7 month uptill to process completion. i think 9j is right "operation link" is the problem.
i ask cse last month and VO respond to me that "background check is outstanding".
so hope its clear uptill now..if situation remains like this by the end of May then i will go for caips

4 months is a long time mate. I think you should email them for update and if they don't respond then order GCMS to see what's happening on your file

hi
Did they ask you to submit medical and rprf and why he done medical two times, did canadian visa office asked medical and if they asked then you aske from them by sending the letter why they took medicals which expire, bcz according to my knowledge if they ask you the medical this is the last stage and after that there is no point for security check.

I have done My meds only single time and they asked me to submit permanent resident fee with medicals so i did..

I was talking about my nephew who applied almost with same time line as mine but in different NOC. His first Medical came in 2010 without any rprf. Then it expired after 1 year and again he got 2nd medical request without RPRF in 2011 and its now expired in 2012 March.

Hi 9j, Louth & other Heroes here,
I've come across a PPR format from LVO someone shared on this forum. In the letter, the instruction clearly states that,

1. The surname (last name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on the Surname line of the bio-page of each
passport, and should match the information provided by you on your Updated Information Chart.

2. The given name (first name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on the Given Name line of the bio- page
of each passport, and should match the information provided by you on your Updated Information Chart.

But on my spouse's passport, both the first & last names are on the given name line. (i.e. the surname line is blank). We've noticed it only now. And I know it's strange. But when we attended the medicals, the doctor corrected it to First & Second names on the medical forms.

Will it create a problem & what are the chances that they will not issue the visa...?
Should I go for a new passport correcting this..? If so, is it ok to submit a new passport which is not on their records...?

Best,
p2c

Hi,

Will this be the standard format for passports from your country or was it an input error?

If it was an error, then the VO might request you correct it before they can issue visa/COPR. They want to be sure that your details to be put on the visa and COPR are exactly as it is on the passport. However, in the PPR details, they also provide and ask you to complete an updated information form along with the passports when you submit them. It is therefore possible that the VO will go with the information as you provide them on the Updated information form. This is entirely an assumption on my part, so please don't take this as the official position.

There must be other forum members who have been in similar situation. They may be better placed to say for sure what their experience was in this regards. You may want to start a new thread on the main forum to attract more replies

All the best
