LMIA application processing time?

Hey Guys!

heres my update, Yesterday my employer got a call from SC and they are on the phone for more than an hour then the SC sent email after an hour, He is again asking for copy of company T2 and financial records.. again, they asked to get a copy of ads to proof that it was up there for 4 full weeks atleast.. My gosh eh advertisement was up there from May 2014 up to date (updating every month until the decision is made) I guess its not just 4weeks but it more than 4months lmao!!!! our Admin will be submitting all those papers on Monday..

So guys, what do you think is next based on your boss's experience?

@ REANNOX - hi there, my boss called them @ 18003675693,
say ur boss to dont get afraid when he listen waiting time, because when mine called the witing time was 50 minutes but SC answered after 14 minutes and make your boss or someone from company call them, because they ask many questions before they give ur file number. (company number and business number etc.)


@ jovie - i am so disappointed reading what happened to you ... its unacceptable... i am so sorry but i wish they issue you a positive lmia just after submission of what they ask.

Employer started advertising process today. Does anyone know if WowJobs.ca is an acceptable job posting site? They are so vague with this part.

My IEC expired and i used the lmia process as the reason for why i am changing over to a visitor. It came through no problems.

Thanks Jay! It's not exactly the same as you were working before, but it's still interesting that they accepted your change to visitor until your LMIA came through. In our case, the family member that's waiting for the LMIA has a visitor status already and I have a dilemma.

First choice would be to book a plane ticket for 2 months from now and apply for an extension using that ticket, so they'll have 2 more months (at least until they reach a decision on the extension) and if it comes back negative or the LMIA comes back negative or it hasn't been issued yet, they'll leave. Just trying to save on extra money and hassle here.

Second choice would be to clearly state that we're waiting for the LMIA app (without booking a ticket), I'm just worried how that might go with CIC, since it's not really a reason to stay as a visitor but actually waiting on becoming a worker. Another issue might be that if they say no, then they'll have to leave right away and the flight will be much more expensive if booking it for the very next days.

Hi guys.
I was on open work permit. But my work permit expired before my employer filled for LMIA. I got 3 months visitor visa as I asked for only 3 months. I thought 3 months is enough for LMIA processing. I got my visitor visa for 3 months. Now my Visa is expiring in 2 weeks so I have reapplied for visitor extension and this time I have asked for 6 months. I hopw it will work. I have not given any explanation about LMIA in my visitor visa extension application. But I have shown more than $10k balance so that it makes my case strong.

According to my employer showing that you have applied for LMIA and you are waiting for its approval is not a valid reason to stay in Canada. And chances of rejection increases. But I guess if you have applied for PR and you have AOR then it may be a valid reason in this case. Also it depends on Visa officer and every case is different in terms of assessment and situation. Hope we all get our LMIA soon.

Application send October 23 2014. File number issued November 4 2014.
After this no notifications from SC: no calls, mails - nothing.
My employer calls SC once every 2 weeks. Call center agent says that all papers&payment are in place (meaning they don't need anything from us) and application is shown as pending.
Because it's been 3 months already since we applied and 2.5 since file number issued but still no decision on my application.

Could not tell you at all - as your dates are exactly the same as mine, and I am waiting as well (BC)
My NOC code though is 2232 - Mechanical Engineering Technologists
Application sent 23rd Oct, File number issued 4 Nov 2014.
And yes, same responses! and still waiting.

JUL 29 2014 - LMIA application submitted
