Linking MyCIC account to PR application

Successfully linked our application to MyCIC, on the first try! Just lucky I guess ;p

Just a question now, I (sponsor) created an account using the partner thing with Scotiabank. Does my husband (PA) have to create an account as well, or we will be able to follow everything through mine?

I have a more basic question: when can I link the PR app to MyCIC? Currently, when I log in it only says that I can link an existing application to my account, but seems to imply that this is only for people who recently rebooted their MyCIC or something like that, and that they will ask questions about these past apps before linking them with this account. And so, does that mean that I cannot link my PR application to myCIC yet? Can one do that only after receiving AOR and the official application number?

You will be able to follow everything through your. When you log in and see the information doesn't it show the PA names?

I got AoR2 last August 10 this year, but only successfully linked my application in late October. Long story short, tried several times but only succeeded after doing the "2" trick.

My question now is, would I have missed any communication during that 2 month window where my application wasn't linked, like request for additional documents?

I thought so too! With the Manila visa office though, they're requiring the sponsor's birth certificate as well, which wasn't included in the original document checklist. It was only in the AoR2 email, which was confusing.

Hi all, I was finally able to get the system to find our application. It didn't work until today - I swear I tried this info combo before but who knows. I can confirm that since our representative is using the paid representative portal it gives me the following message:

"Based on the information you entered, we found: 1 application

We see that you have a representative tied to this application. Your representative has access to your application.

If you no longer want to use a representative and access the application yourself, you can cancel your representative by filling out the Use of a representative form [IMM5476] (PDF, 647.96 kb) and choose "cancelling the appointment of a representative."

I have no intention of dropping my representative, just an FYI. I don't believe this shows up if you're your own spouse's representative.

The combination of information that I used to find the application (finally) was:

1. Logged in with GC Key account.
2. Permanent Residence > Family Class (Spouses)
2. Application Number and Family Name - Copy/pasted application number from email (including the F) and entered PA's last name.
3. City of Birth - I entered 1 space (hit spacebar once)
4. Country of Birth - Selected PA's country of birth
5. Passport Info - Did not enter any passport info
6. Other Application Info - Filled out the other application info as per our application and put '2' as the number of members in the application. I am sponsoring my husband, no dependents.

It popped up saying 1 application was found. Hope this helps someone trying to link their account.

And I managed to link my account to my app, but now every time I want to log in to check there is a problem, the service is offline, or I log in and then it throws me out to the CIC home page, or it logs me in and then tells me error, you are not logged in... is anyone else experiencing such problems?

Hey. It finally worked for me.
You know what did the trick?
A space in City of birth.

They apparently didn't update their system with my father's city of birth.
Just leaving it blank didn't work. I had to press the space button.

I also put 6 for family size: Sponsor, 4 sponsored people, wife of sponsor.

I hope this info helps others who are struggling to link.

Genius! It also worked for me! I've been trying for 2 months now and finally when I read your post I just entered one space on the city name and if found my application! Thank you so much for sharing, you are a life saver!

FYI this same thing worked for me.

I'm the principal applicant

UCI
Family Name

Single Space for City of Birth
United States of America

Nothing in the passport section

British Columbia
Vancouver
Married
2 (it's just me the PA and my wife, the sponsor)

Birth City - Put 1 space correct?
What about number of members in application - will it be 2 ( Father and Mother who are applicants) or what ?

Try including yourself (sponsor?) in the number of members in application, so type in 3.

Hello,

I have a quick question regarding linking paper Permanent Residency (PR) application to myCIC account. I was able to link the Sponsorship/PR application shortly after I couriered the application package and was able to see the progress page when I click the update button. I linked the application to my myCIC account (Sponsor) using my wife’s credentials (Principal Applicant). Shortly before I received my SA letter, the progress page has become unavailable and when I click the update button it says “Application status is currently unavailable. Please try again later”. Furthermore, the application number is still showing the temporary number starting with the letters XF. This is the case for the last 4-5 weeks or so. My eCAS is running well as I receive updates on both Sponsor and Principal Applicant side.

My question is: The status update page is unavailable because I linked the application to my myCIC account (Sponsor) rather than to my wife’s myCIC account (Principal Applicant)? (which was previously opened to apply for TRV). Any other ideas?
