Hello

I'm going to apply for OWP and PR soon.. I'll be applying using option 2 (3900 work hours). My work permit will expire in April 8, 2015. And I'm planning to send in my application by March 1, 2015 (which is more than 30 days before the expiration of my work permit). Will I be considered out of status? cause I've been reading the forum and it takes 2-4months before you get your OWP. Should I renew my work permit with my current employer? Please advise. Btw, I arrived here in Calgary last April 9, 2013 but started working in May 1st...

Also, Should I include all my pay slips and time-sheets in the application?? (I won't be using overtime work hours. I will be completing around 4000 hours of work without overtime within 22months).

Thanks :)
If you're going to submit your PR/Owp before the expiration of your work permit you will NOT be out of status. You will be under IMPLIED status which means that you can still work provided that it is still the same employer & contract. I didn't submit my paystub but I made a timesheet regarding my hours and the deductions made by my employer. Im December 2013 applicant. Got my AIP & interview letter for PR :) :)

Oh wow that was fast! :) I thought it takes a long time to process PR application? When did you get it? I'm sorry, but what does AIP stand for? How long do you still have to wait till you get your PR card? When did you get your OWP? Sorry I have a lot of questions. Thanks again! :)

Yu must have a valid work permit at any time you are in Canada while awaiting process of PR aplication. Filing for PR / OWP application does not automatically extend your work permit.

There was already a case of an applicant who was sent home by CIC during her pR interview for not having a vaid status of her stay in Canada. (Expired work permit)

You can see the details on the procedure for filing PR on the link I posted a while ago.

AIP means Approved / Approval in Principle

I read the guidelines in applying for OWP and PR that I have to renew or apply atleast 30 days before my work permit expires.. Should I renew my contract with my current employer first before I apply for PR and OWP? What's the best option in my case?

It will all depend on your instinct. If you think your present employer is good to you, you can always renew your contract. It is also an advantage to have a single employer since you arrived as LIC up to the time you will file your PR application.

Is it possible to renew my contract and apply for OWP at the same time? And when is the earliest time possible to renew my contract?

Regarding the application for PR.. Do I have to submit all my payslips and time sheets?

Thank you

If your contract will expire, then you must renew it. It's one of the requirements in PR application. OWP is filed when you file PR application.

Just read the infos from the link about PR application. Who knows, there might be changes or new regulations will be enforced within the time you're awaiting your PR application fling next year. :)

I am one of those who used IMPLIED status. Cause I submitted my PR/OWP paper BEFORE my work permit expires. But if you will submit the PR/OWP and the validity of your work permit is not enough it needs to be renewed.

Can I apply to renew my work permit with my current employer after I submit my OWP/PR applications? Or should I wait till they make a decision about my OWP? Or just renew my work permit before applying for PR/OWP?
