Leaving Canada for a few days to renew entrance.

Hello all,

I have a visitor status with my 4th extension made inside. I am in Canada since Jan 2016 and my status expires in the end of March 2018. I am thinking of taking a short trip to Cuba or New York in the 2nd week of March but I am not sure if it is high risk when I arrive at the Canadian border to re-enter.

I am intending to apply for a family sponsorship but I will only be elegible in August 2018.

Should I try to leave and re-enter or apply for the 5th visitor extension?

Leaving and re-entering is always more risky than applying for an extension from within Canada.
