“The single-most important commitment we made in the election campaign was to substantially reduce the processing time for the families,” the minister said. “We’re working right now to reduce the inventory of people waiting. We will be announcing a new system in the fall which will substantially reduce the processing time for family unification.” -Refugees and Citizenship Minister John McCallum.

The Fall season has started so can you tell us the new system??>... :P :P

Re: Latest on the Changes on Canada Immigration this coming FALL

Indeed. I'd love more details before my husband and I fling our application into the void later this month.

not too many details in that article. just waiting on an announcement now. wonder if it'll have any effect on applications currently being processed or if itll be for applications sent after the new system.

that is the big question many of us have. my application to sponsor my wife has been sitting at london since february of this year, and they still haven't gotten around to reviewing it. this needs to change, and fast.

and what does "fall" even mean? that could be anywhere between labor day and december.

Another change I've heard rumors about is going back to 3 years (out of 5) for citizenship (It's 4 out of 6 now). :)

That's not a rumor. The bill (c-6 I think) has been passed in the parliament couple months ago. They are getting rid of the changes Harper government made to the citizenship act back in 2004, including the 4 out of 6 year residency time. It takes few months between new law and new CIC operational guideline, but the guideline will reflect the law passed by parliament.

Theres applicants who submitted their inland app last feb march this 2016 already had AIP and SA, one have landing interview too yesterday.

Only americans gets the benefit of ottawa. They send our applications to London which is the slowest visa center.
