Hey all,
Please I would like to ask about something that happened and it was strange when I landed.
I did my landing a week ago and then when finishing my landing formalities, the officer asked me for the cash I have and I told her 1000 dollars in cash and she didnt even ask for the bank account or anything and she noted that much (1000 cad) in the copr remarks, could that affect me in anyways either now or later? I might be travelling mid december to attend my brothers wedding and then come back maybe by then the PR cards wont be ready yet but I have already provided my family friends address as I am staying with her.

Insights are greatly appreciated

No you are good.
The officer trusts you that you have enough money to sustain yourself/family during your stay here. Hence she did not ask for proof.

Thank you, but why did she write the amount down in the remarks section in the copr tho

Aha it was the other way around for me, still dont know why she wrote it down in the remarks section

Seems to be somewhat random about whether they ask toprove a POF.
Yes, true, I havent seen many being asked about it. The only concern for me is the fact that she noted it down on the COPR and asked if the amount was in CAD or USD

If you dont mind me asking were your money in a canadian bank or in an offshore account?

They will just note the amount of funds you are bringing for declaration and stuff. So don't fret about it. You can even come with 0 and tell them you will transfer the funds later on and they will be ok with it. You went through many months of background checks and it's unlikely they will reject you at the border for something as trivial as funds. I have seen zero cases of people stopped at border for proof of funds.

True, I was thank God allowed in as a PR no issues with that, even she applied for my PR card but I was just wondering why she wrote it down on the copr and she didnt even ask if I have more or if I have a bank account at all nothing just "how much money you have" I said 1000 in cash then she asked usd or cad I said cad and she wrote that down I was going to say but i have more in my account, she asked me to sign the Copr and the copy and then handed in the copy so it was a it strange as I am worried it will affect any future renewals of PR or the citizenship application

still at home, we didn't have a canadian bank account.

Aha, good, so you showed the proof to them or you just said no cash?

i think they just asked more than 10k. i don't remember it being such an issue, i don't even remember that being discussed. just be honest in the end

I didnt mind being honest it's just that the officer didnt give me a chance to say the funds in my account and just wrote the cash I have in the remarks.
I have landed already btw
