Charninder,

I take a somewhat different view (but perhaps you are saying the same thing). People move to another country because there is greater utility in that for them. That utility can be comprised of better opportunity for them or their family, safety, quicker path to citizenship, etc. Why are some people willing to take up "lower" job (by lower, i mean a job that you don't want). Its only because the expected gain in utility from Canada is higher than than what they have in their current country.

Someone like raindrop doesn't need to take that "lower" job because his utility in his current country is greater than the expected utility from Canada. Its as simple as that. He is, for certain, living in a pretty decent country already so I am sure he doesn't want to take that hit in his life where he might have to take a "lower" job. Why am I thinking of moving to Canada? Only because I want to live in a different country but if the drop in job is too great, i'd rather stay in the US because the excitement of a new country might not compensate for the drop in job.

Take someone from DRC. Why would they move to canada for a greater drop in job? Its because the utility they get from safety cannot be compared to the disutility from a drop in job.

So ultimately what I am trying to say (perhaps you are saying the same thing) is that everyone has to look at their utility. So not moving to Canada because you don't want a drop in job in quite understandable because in his situation (specifically raindrop here), he is living in a pretty okay country.

Hi, Chinaconnection,

Thanks..

God Bless All Of You..

To be honest i don't really care about what job or how much i will earn if i ever managed to move to Canada

To me just being able to live there would be like a dream coming true. Who cares what job i will land initially?

i don't mind being a waiter for a few years until i find my way around

That's the spirit!
Carry on guys. One day Canada will be yours.

Take care and best of luck.

Thanks.

Hi all !

Its really interesting to read a thread about some real facts of Canada ( as per my opinion). I beleive everybody is not 100% accurate on his arguments. But it is true that all are trying to express their best feelings/thought about the thread. As per my opinion these are only some statements which anybody can accept or reject at any ground. We should not heart by any of those at all.

I want to add some feelings about the thread. My question is, if the employers of canada are only choosing the candidates of Canadian experience class then why the govt. has to impose restriction on the occupations in immigration? why there is a list of 38 occupations only? better they can give opportunity to some freshers of all occupations who will try to give some fresh blood to strengthen the economy. I do not think any one from out side of canada can enter his/her dream job of his actual occupasion. so it is meaningless to choose the immigrants on the basis of their occupasions. My thought may not be right but I presume it might be a govt. policy to lessen the total PR numbers to canada.

Thank you all.

Well my friends, from the understanding of this issue of 38 list and Canadian experience, i agree with Jalam2000 on the point that the Government is trying to lessen the number of immigrants into Canada by creating a list of occupations needed in Canada. Do you really think the 38 list of occupations are the only occupations needed in Canada? ofcourse not, that is why they chose educated people with some skills so that when they get into Canada, while getting the Candian experience by doing the jobs that are not done by Officers, they will eventually get jobs in their field studies.

Also, we should understand that the employers are not sorely the Government, there are private employers too. If the employers in Canada were the Government, then there would have been NOC jobs ready for pple coming into Canada. But because there are Government employers and individual employers, there has to be a problem of pple getting in and not having thier dream jobs coz Private employers will not consider government criterial to employ workers.

So i think the Government wants to limit the number of pple getting into Canada and at the same time taking fewer pple with some skills who can easily intergrate after a period of time.

Thanks

Actually the policy according to our Immigration Minister for BC Murray Coell who I talked to yesterday is as follows,Service Canada which has responsibility for Labour Market Opinions has been instructed to cut and slow down approvals to reduce the Number of TEMPORARY FORIEGN WORKERS,but Immigration levels will remain the same. But more selective thus the 38 expedited.Ironically What is happening in some cases,it is EASIER to immigrate then to become a worker.A korean who I assisted was DENIED her work permit renewal and LMO but was APPROVED to immigrate by BC PNP.Likewise An Iranian carpet restorer was denied his temporary work permit but APPROVED to immigrate to Canada under the AEO.Go figure

Italki, good for you. This means that the utility you get out of living in Canada is greater than the disutility you get out of a change in job or salary.

This means that the guys already nominated to AINP can't really spec to go to Alberta as a temporary worker ? while the application is in CIC

I am guessing now. I guess that their chance of going to Alberta is reduced rather than nill. I am sure the number of workers let in is not zero. Since I am guessing, we should wait for BCGuy to answer. Good luck.

That doesn't look good BCGuy. Why would they do that? It's a completly messed up strategy. I guess its quite obvious what they are trying to do.
For people who doesn't require an LMO, would they still have a high probability of having a work permit denied?.

But BCGUY, if it is easier to immigrate than to become a worker, don't you think that would cause alot of unemployment ?

its easier to immigrate than to get a workers visa, that doesnt mean the immigrant cant take up the job of the people who would have gotten the workers visa.
