Hi, Congratulations ,I am planning to land in Sep 2010, have booked the tickets.
Just wanted to know what did you do about health insurance as I hear that it takes 3 months to get a Canadian health card .
Did you purchase health insurance before landing in Canada or after that, which company did you go for?

friends check this link

http://www.bajajallianz.com/Corp/travel/travel-insurance.html

u can shop around other companies also and find out

i took this because my friend was working there and if any claims comes he may settle it faster with me..

and i dont think the difference between companies will be large ..some plus or minus here and there.

but get a coverage for atleast 50000 dollars...

suppose we may meet with an accident i think hospitals wil charge that at the least..as medicals are very very high in canada..

for fever u can get a medicine called tylonol..its available at all medical shops...( friedns iam not a doctor) ,but this a doctor suggested me ..double check everything i say ....and if u have any doctor freinds consult them..i should give wrong medical advice..in walk in clinics they charge 25 dollars if u dont hav ohip...but doctors dont charge also if u say iam new immmgratn and waiting for ohip..

the insurance coverage is basically for any major medical expenses...( pray which shouldnt happen to anybody ...).but who knows anything may happen anytimes

when u spend some 2-3 lakhs for immigrating its worth paying 4000 bucks for insurance..pls dont come without insurance ..here its costly.

moreover insurance in india also covers u even ur baggage loss passport loss etc...related to flight problems..

so think...shop ...and then get a good insurance ..thatss my advice ..hope this resolves everyones query on insuracen

Hi attituderockz,

I have one more question regarding insuarance..

If we take it from india, is it also applicable for one way flight ticket. I read somewhere that we can get insurance only on return tickets.

Also incase we need to use it, can we claim it within canada or we have to come back to india to claim it as they belong to india.

Please guide.

Hai Attituderocks,
i have checked above Bajaj allianz site for insurance...................only Travel Elite family plan is viable for coverage to canada/usa & its RS 3500 for 60 days.AM i right?
what do you think about that.other BASIC-PLAN does not cover insurance in canada.

what's your opinion? :) :) :)

so friends
Iam back after a small break
I got my SIN card today by post..it took exavlt 10 days..
and i got a call centre job..basic job 10.25 dollar per hor for 6 days a wrrk..so can manage my rent and food for the family...being in that i will try to get banking jobs...so joining the job on friday( auspicious day as per indian standards......he he he little sentiment)
i met many indians in the interview without jobs and been in canada for almost 5-6 months...so i feel iam lucking enuf atleast to get this job in 10 day of landing
so ready to start tough and blessed life ahead.
work is also nearby just 10 minutes frm home but still have to go by bus.
so personally i chose this job over the pizza job...becasue i thot daily i can talkt o lot of ppl and develop my english standards and a much better workplaces...frends how much proficent you are in english ,it will take some time to understnad the canadian/us slang..u wil experience once u land here..if somebody calls u on phone u hav to listen carefully...but its easy over a month we wil also talk canadian way and i thot call centre is the best for that( my personal opinion...i respect all jobs...).and morever i can get some canadian customer service exp....
planning to ask my family to come down by oct first week..missing my kid so much..some sacrifice for his better future..
nothing more to post...once my kid lands i hav to claim child benefits..
one advice..pay everything by credit card never use cash..and build credit card history ..( and dont forget to pay it....)
so friends i have posted whatever little knowledge i have got in 10 days....happy to land in a basic job..i applied jobs extensively in jobbank.gc.ca..there are lot of big gurus in this forum..but iam just posting my own findings...and pls get their advices also..i may also be wrong.and not even a single person in scarborugh..iam dying to meet immigrants to share exp..
and there is a good mall here scarborough city centre...and well coneected by subway from downtown
so anybody ear scarborugh lets meet there...it near to my house also.
ok i got too long ,...thanks for reading so patiently...
willpostmore ...bye
