Ahha, thanks for explaining that, nufflove. OK, so you received social assistance for medical reasons.

1) If I understand correctly and you have been working again since February, then you can go ahead and finalize and submit the application, as I said before.

2) If I misunderstand you and what you mean is that all this happened since Feb 2011 (bed rest, needing SFI) and you have just recently started working again, then yes, wait a few more months before submitting. This gives CIC an indication that the social assistance was a temporary measure, just a break in your work history due to extenuating circumstances and you have now returned to your normal working way of supporting yourself.

Great! Include a copy of that letter with your application, because as sponsor you need to include information about your work history. Make sure hubby knows about all the details (he probably does already, this is just a reminder) because something like this can come up in an interview.

No, the resume won't be necessary, as CIC will do its own investigation based on the work history that you provide.

The good news about the stress is that you can channel and focus that stress into making sure you prepare a strong application! Ask all the questions you need to, remember plenty of people here have been through this and are prepared to assist. :)

Irving brought you to the right place. :)

Has your husband met any of your relatives or friends? What about his relatives and friends that you have met, have you developed a relationship/friendship with any of them? It would be good if relatives and friends on both sides of the family could speak to what they know about your relationship, by writing letters in support of you guys. They don't need to be long or complicated letters, they just need to be sincere and specific. They should mention when they met you, any occasions they have spent with you as a couple, and what convinces them you have a genuine, loving marriage. Let them do it in their own words.

Yes, for some persons, perhaps letters from family are not needed. However, knowing us as Jamaicans, I think the lack of letters of support from the family can cause an unnecessary red flag, especially if you have a close-knit family. It would look really strange if they didn't show some support, because everybody knows when we get married we have to introduce the new addition to auntie, uncle, sister, brother, cousin, granny and the family dog! :p

A note of caution. Be careful about accepting advice about this process from people who have never been through it, even seemingly knowledgeable people. I have seen on this forum where Designated Medical Practitioners and their staff insist to applicants that they won't do medicals without a file number, when it should be clear to them that spousal applicants will not have a file number because they have to submit the medical with the application! Trust me when I tell you that if they have never been through this process, it doesn't matter who they might know who has been through it, they really don't know anything. They can end up steering you off the path without even realising what they are doing!

Good morning forum family Yay. A new week and its good news Monday. Just waiting for my MPs office to open this morning as they were closed on friday and I had to go through the whole weekend wondering why she called me on Thursday...
We had some wicked wicked weather here yesterday, what I thought was just some bad thunderstorms turned out to be a devastating tornado that killed 1 person and injured several. Its strangely cool here this mornign it already feels like fall is on its way.

Ok Kingston, wakey wakey its Monday and you have lots of work to do this week!

Ps Ebony glad to hear you finnally got some movement on your file, hubby will be here before the cold weather.

Moring everyone!

Dear Kingston,
We hope you have enjoyed your time off. We certainly hope it was well worth it and you got to spend quality time with your family and loved ones, as ....WE have NOT! Hopefully you have had a bright sunny summer where most of us haven't. Now that summer is near ending please step it up and help others along too!
Sincerely and kindest regards,
All those awaiting to be with their special and extremely missed loved ones!
