Also, for ppl who have landed..

How long did the initial landing take at port of entry? Trying to think about flights as my hubby will need a connecting flight out of Toronto to come west.

Has anyone found an airline or a flight direct west of Toronto? I'm in BC and its always a 2 day trip to and from Montego Bay as we usually have an overnight in Toronto before we go west/south.

Hi everyone,
I've been searching for this thread forever, and I'm so glad I found you all! My hubby has a PR interview at the CHC Kingston Office Feb 8, 2017. They've requested his proof of PR fee and his passport. We've been married 4.5 years and we have a 2.5 year old daughter together. Any advice or tips for the interview? Any idea how long it may take from that point to get his visa/landing papers? And how long it might be until he's in Canada? I can't actually believe we are finally at this point and would also appreciate any relationship advice for our situation from people who have been in this position before. I can only imagine the difficulties he faces leaving his home, job, family, etc. all at once and landing in a foreign country to start over!
Thanks in advance

Hi There

There does not seem to be many senior members active on this thread these days. If you go through the older posts you will find the answers to all of your questions. There is a wealth of knowledge and information. It seems that KVO is really moving through files very quickly so this thread seems to be very transient of late. Good luck with your interview next week

It was not long very quick and easy process....the longest part is the walk to immigration

I submitted the application to sponsor my husband yesterday! Now the waiting officially begins. I sent it via Canada Post and its expected to be delivered tomorrow.

I do have some questions:
- do you have to use a Dr assigned by CIC?
- Will they tell you which Dr to use when they request the medical?
- How long does it normally take for them to request the medical and police check? We did not complete that as the new process indicates that they will let you know when it is required.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if anyone using the new application has reached the point where they've been asked for medical and police checks. With the old apps, both were required upfront.
I used the old application, and there was a list of CIC approved docs, so assume that would remain the same with the new applications. If I remember correctly, they were located in Montego Bay and Kingston. But, I also assume they'll provide you with a list of choices when they send you the request. :)

Many thanks! I had started the old application but then switched to the new application as i was told it would be easier. Do you know how rigorous the medical exam is? Is it just like a physical? Any idea how much it costs?

congrats to u, all the best.

Just wondering how do you know when KVO has received the application? I received a letter through email dated January 17 informing me that I've been approved as a sponsor and that the application has been sent to KVO. Checking online, it says that processing on the application began January 12. Anyone know if the processing they refer to online means the initial processing of me as a sponsor or could it be that KVO began their processing at that time? There's nothing online stating specifically that KVO has the application.
