Good Morning Beautiful people... 3 more sleeps until christmas :) So wha gwan everybody... everyone aright???

welcome HFavour and L_W ( keeping it short to distinguish between all the lonley and highlyfavoured wifeys out there :) )

I love all the new forum family members questions, it totally brings back memories.

L_W from what I can see, your application is moving along perfectly... you have recevied your AOR and Document Request after this as long as your medicals do not expire (medicals are valid for 1 year from the date you did them) the next request from KNG would be to bring in your passport. As for updates on ecas, dont waste your time worrying about that, my hubbies file was not updated until after he had landed :) your file IS in process 100%, you got your letter and your Document request.

HFavour - if you are being sponsored by a family member then you would be in the Family catagory, but either under Dependent Children or Parents & grandparents which has total different time lines but pretty much similar procedure as the spousal & Partners category. Are you being sponsored by a parent? Grandparent or child? Please stick around since we have all sorts of cases in the group, skilled worker, adoption and family!

Good morning to everyone...
Nae-nae sorry about the confusion I am sponsoring my husband. I am not sure where you got mixed up but I am thinking maybe when I said that I was at the embassy. I spent the last 2 weeks of October in Jamaica and me and my husband went to the embassy to try to get some info. Just to let you know I been keeping myself busy as I go to university full time and I work 32 hours a week. The days go by quickly but I am still missing my husband very much, I guess we are all in the same boat lol...

On a good note I went to the MP with the doctor note this morning and he wrote an email to the IO in KG requesting from them to speed up the process due to health concern and doctor stated on the note it could be related to the fact that husband is in another country. Doctor wrote on note signs of depression and moderate stress, I went to the walk-in clinic and paid to get the note as I don’t have a family physician. The MP said he expects an email by the end of the week from there I will more info. I will definitely give an update on what happens with this as I am sure if immigration speeds up my process a few others may follow my footsteps. A friend of mine also did this to speed up the process the only difference is that she was dealing with the embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and her husband got here about a month after she had handed in the note.

Thanks KC i am happy to hear that your husband things were not updated on ecas until later... i thought it wasn’t normal or maybe my stuff was stalling....

L_w, since you wrote that about the note from your doctor, it has given me an idea.

My husband has chronic microcytic anemia. Basically his body does not store iron, so it does not make blood cells properly. He is receiving iron infusions and blood transfusions every 3 months or so, lately it has been down to every 6 weeks. We discussed it last night, and decided to ask his family doctor to give us a letter for our application (we are still gathering all the paperwork, scheduled submission is by mid-late January) stating how his illness and treatment affects his daily life. Considering that his father passed away last week and he is now living on his own, we are hoping this gets us at least some kind of urgency when our application is filed with KG.

So, I say all of this to say, thanks for mentioning that, it was not something we had considered doing before.

highly flavoured - have you sent in your application yet? if so can you tell me the date, and if your sponsorship has been approved and the date. I want to add you to our updates list. Since you are being sponsored by a family member, you are in the family class

Hey Charlie.... I am not sure if it will work from KG but I figured I would give it a try nothing hurts at this point and if it can get my husband here sooner it’s a bonus. I am sorry to hear about the lost, my sympathies.

From what my MP said the note should indicate that the medical professional believes that the health of you or partner would get better with the other one closer to them. Anyways, for me I don’t have medical problems so I figured I could describe the sadness that I feel and he wrote symptoms of major depression and moderate stress. I was surprised but happy in a way because I figured maybe KG will move faster due to the Doc’s note. We will see what happens...

Congrats to everyone who is going to have their loved ones home with them for the holidays.!!!
I feel so happy watching people get through. I stay happy by thinking that I will have my husband by next christmas.... and Ill have him probably by my birthday too... which is even earlier then Christmas.

I was just reading about having doctors notes to advocate for a speedier process. I was just thinking and just wanted to say becareful with sending doctors notes.... I guess it would be ok if you were the sponsor because you are already covered by the health care system... but if you were to send in a letter noting any medical needs for your loved one who is the applicant, it could work against you. Maybe? If the government sees your loved one ( the applicant" ) as a bourdon on the health care system, it may prolong the application. Im just guessing.... it just got a bad feeling about it. I know when they ask for the medical exam, they are general looking for any thing that may cause concern for the general popoulation " HIV, TB" but who knows, it is the government, so who knows what their intentions are.

Anyways, if it works... then maybe its another way to kick Kingston in the butt to speed things along.

Just food for thought.

It's a valid thought, Sanchester.

I am generally quite healthy, it's my husband/sponsor who is dealing with the health issues. That is one of the reasons we decided I would be the one to make the move, seeing as he has access to free health care. When he was here, it ended up costing us almost $200 to get him treated just once, not including the cost of the days I lost at work because I was with him at the hospital. We would go broke very quickly trying to live on my salary and his military pension if we had to pay for his medical treatment full time in Jamaica :p

Sanchester I agree with you... I am a Canadian citizen born and raised... I am doing to speed up but not sure if it will work or not. But you are right I believe if the applicant declares any major health concern it could work against that person for sure. Before doing this I contacted my lawyer who mentioned as long as we are not talking about my husband, it should be fine. He said to also be careful with the severity of the illness as immigration Canada may ask questions such as why are you with your partner if one is in good health and the other one is not. It could be seen negatively by the IO in example like age difference. I also believe it could be a touchy thing to do because it could be interpreted in a positive way or also in a negative way depending on who the IO is.

Also a good point from your lawyer, L_w. When we talked about it, we also saw it as a two-edged sword, because I could very well be asked why I married a man with that kind of illness. I have known about it long before we married, so I am comfortable explaining my feelings on the matter, but we didn't want to be unprepared for any eventuality that might come up if we decided to get that letter from his doctor.

So true, Nae! Everything in this process has to be carefully assessed to make sure we understand the potential consequences, and not taken lightly!
