This is a lot of stress to handle.. I wish the processing was a quick one cause months without your husband/wife is so nerve racking. I hope we all get through at a fast pace but the way my lucks been going I don't have real high hopes for me

I feel the same way. This week hasnt been a good one either. Just want to give up sometimes. Today is our sons birthday, and of course hubby isnt here to celebrate with us, but we are going there next month, so thats going to be wonderful to see him. But its always sad to leave.

I hear ya on that one. Im just glad to be able to have a date to look forward to something! I just miss my hubby so much. And so do the kids! I know we have to wait, and wait and wait but its so hard. I dont know why they dont give TRV's while filing for sponsorship, because obviously if we are doing sponsorship then we want to do things the legal way. Why keep families apart? It sucks

Hi Roxie,

We just got ours back. They base it on when your medical expires. So we got 5 month PR visa, as the medical expires on Sept 15.

So when you are waiting for your PR visa you can estimate how much time you will before it expires bases loosely on the expiry date of your medical.

but tht cant be unless the extend it....like couple of days a go cause.. the jus asked me to re do my pcc and pay the PRPF soo the havent asked for my passport yet and they say the medical is good til june 11 2015.... ???

If they are close to finishing your file and requesting your passport....they could extend you medicals. If they don't extend your medical then they will request a new one be done.

Also as mentioned...the entry visa into Canada is only valid until your medicals expire. So if they do extend them and you get PPR soon...then you will have a while to come to Canada

If someone were to want to stop their filing while in process is that an option? I've heard you cant withdrawl after a certain point. Is that true?

You can withdrawal up until the visa is issued. (Unless they are in the process of issuing it. Once the visa is issued you can't. Also you wouldn't get any money at that point. If you withdrawal before the visa is issued you would.

So if the police check is redone and the fees are paid for permanent residence, than once that is processed you MAY only have until June 11th before your PR Visa expires. From our experience, the expiry date on our PR VISA matches the same day the medical expires.

You can email any of these questions directly to the Kingston Embassy to get more specific information about your case as well.

There also may be some more experienced members that will give you advise on this forum as well.
