I had emailed awhile ago with change of address and phone number and have not heard anything... do you think emailing again will mess things up in anyway? Just wondering if you found an answer regarding your husband's work permit status.

I don't know if it helps any, but when I email them, I use the automated form. Also, when asking my question, I PROVIDE them with the information again, like I said: "I understand you are very busy, but I simply need to confirm that the information on my file is as follows: Address, phone number, blah blah blah. I would hate to have our file or your workload help up simply because of a miscommunication with contact information. Thank you so much for your time, kind regards, Mrs. Nini"

And same with the RPRF, just emailed telling them I understand they are incredibly busy, but wanted to ensure the RPRF has been paid and if there is anything outstanding that they currently require from us.

I find that by already telling them what I need to confirm, it gives them an easy way to check my status without having to type out too much themselves.

I hope that helps, and not sure if it will work for everyone.

Jan 17, 2015!!! FINALLY
Good Morning JAMFAM!! Happy Hump Day :p

Welcome back MrsB!! Airport goodbyes are the worst!! Just try to remember the happy airport hellos to overshadow the sad ones. Soon he will be here and you will not have any more airport goodbyes!!

I only emailed KGN a month after I received my sponsorship approval to see if they had my file and then again a week later when I hadn't heard back. They finally answered that they did in deed have my application. I am planning on sending them a supplemental package showing additional trips to visit him, photos, etc. at about the 8 month mark and then I will follow up with an email a month or two after that to ensure that they received it.

Question about that... I was told that they already know when you take additional trips because they are able to run your passport. Is this not true? It doesn't matter to me either way because I have passport stamps and itineraries if he ever get called in for interview. And thousands of dollars in phone bills *embarrassed face* lol

Some of us in the Inland 2013 thread were scratching our heads after you posted this:

From what I have been told he is legal on different levels, work wise- no I dont know when it expires or the story behind it as his bosses are not organized or dont like sharing info- they are treated like slaves for sure on most farms! and was told because we were married while he was here, we had a child and have been together for two years + etc he was considered legal- who knows now i guess ???
I was just following up, because if there really is a way for your husband to be deemed `legal' because of his marriage and child, others might benefit from the same `secret'.

As you know, if his OWP is no longer valid (and you said that you're not sure), that could be a problem for an Outland applicant.
Just trying to share and learn about this process!

You're not the only one. I only emailed them twice. once to confirm change of phone numbers (May/June 2013) and once to confirm receipt of RPRF (Jan 2014). Both times they responded in about a day with a very informal (non-automated) response which I was appreciative of because it means they actually looked at the file to verify my information.

I figure, you cannot force them to go any faster if they don't want to so I just sit and wait and make the absolute best of my time in preparation for hubby. I've asked him the things he will want access to, things he will need, types of stores he will want to go to. I want to do my absolute best to make him as comfortable as possible without smothering him, so if I take the time to find out all the little things now, it will be a tiny bit smoother transition when he comes (hopefully).

When I was there last week, he had already started packing... all the things he doesn't wear often. He knows it could still be another load of months, but he's trying to stay optimistic. He's absolutely wonderful.

Nini I thought I was going crazy!!!! I emailed them the first time about receiving the file and the respond by saying yes they received the file in Sep and its in qeue for initial review... And I emailed them again saying my hubby medical and police record is expired and they answered again saying yes they see that and they will be sending out a medical issuance! Then I had one more update but instead I contacted a Mp to do it for me about hubby email other than sending through the "slack mailing system" and they said ok.. From that I haven't...

And Thor about your question about sending in additional info... I also asked my Mp about that she said to be honest she rather I don't send any... Waste of time because even when you send it, they won't even look at the information you send in... They might put that yes you send additional information but won't look at it because you are taking away time from them.. She promptly said" DONT SEND INFORMATION UNLESS KINGSTON ASK FOR IT" lol I just said ok and leave it as that... She also said if you feel like sending it, go straight ahead, but she's telling me from dealing with others, they don't really care about what you send in...

Loool, your definitely not going crazy! I have settled myself in for a 18 month ride (from the day it hit kingston), as that was the expected time when I filed. I would LOVE for it to come through sooner, but there is no sense in getting upset as I was doing in the past because it does not help ANYONE let alone your marriage.

I was told the same thing from an immigration officer (he attended our wedding). He advised Mr. Nini to let me know not to send additional information. He also said that to each their own and if we really wanted to, we could, but he knows it's been mentioned that they become suspect that you're trying to hard to prove its not fake. I know everyone sees it differently and remember everyone, I am simply repeating what he said, not my opinion. He said, if they ask, then send. If they ask for an interview, show up with all your additional proof and and show them your marriage means business.

It's so funny you say that because hubby and I discuss that all the time. I guess we've gotten used to shelling out money for trips and bills and internet and whatnot... but we've discussed it and decided to cut back on some things in order to save for when he gets to Canada. Also, with the additional money not being spent on Jamaica trips (except to go home and visit family), and all the phone bills, then we will be in a much better place. Goodness, an additional $6,000 a year not being spent on phone bills will be AWESOME! loool

Nini same thing my MP said.. Dnt send unless they request it... Your getting up off your own will let them think we are up to something... If they ask for interview then print your whole file... Dwl.. And so funny my mom said the same thing.. Don't give info when not requested.. You have to think ahead of immigration because they are trying to be smart with people..

But Thor if you feel you want to send, go ahead... Do what your heart says.. I'm just saying what the MP said..

That applies to me as well. This is not MY opinion, I'm just repeating what the imigration officer said. When it comes to your case, you do what makes you feel comfortable as we are all different as are all our cases :)

I second that - it really varies and for the Kingston lottery..you can't really tell what will or won't work.

I have two friends who submitted additional information and sent emails WEEKLY confirming status. They got the PPR and visa within 4months of applying and they're both 2013 applicants. One of them even emailed to say I will be in Jamaica during this time x - y and the embassy called her hubby and confirmed she was there and told them to bring the passport and come together. They got the visa issued on the spot.

Kingston is soooo unpredictable.
