I agree with you chickie. My hubby is a welder and we realize that his qualifications in JA won't be worth much here in Canada without being certified here. It is great that Mr. Kenny is pushing for skilled trades people. I think that it would be great if he can increase the amount of IO in Kingston so that our spouses that are ready and willing to work gets through in a timely manner. I know that Immigration Canada mandate is to reunite families.

We have young, healthy and skilled trades people on this forum who are just waiting to get the opportunity to work. Maybe they should ask someone who has been through or going throug the immigration process for their input!

Congratulations in advance to the people who are going to get the call for PPR call and to those who will have their passports stamped and in hand.

Have a great day everyone.
Be blessed.
:D :D

good morning everyone
i was here trying to catch up on all that is going one
as for the topic of people with skills cant get a job here in Canada without going back to school
i think that is the saddest thing about the Canadian system
the other day i was in a taxi cab and me being me struck up a conversation with my cab driver
he is from Ethiopia and in his country was a dr and when he came here he is reduced to driving a taxi ....one of my co worker was an electrical engineer in his native country and now packs boxes for a living...... my hubby can take apart a computer and put it back to together radio tv anything in that manner and he will have to go back to school in order to get a job in that field here in Canada ....its really sad the way things work here .....

corrected my speech here and reduced wrong wording (a job is a job as long as it puts food on your table)

Truth be told also, in order for someone to get the training they need in Canada, they need education....in order to get the education they have to go to school of some sort to get it....which in tail requires money and if you dont have ALOT of money sitting around then you need to apply for OSAP, hmmmmmm.....moral of the story: more $$$$ in the Canadian governments pockets! They will find a way to get your money some how and still yet Canada is in debt up the arse!

Anyone heard from Kingston? *sigh*

Yes the federal skilled workers program is what they are pushing now which I understand but we have spouses that will work also so it should come down to ours also ya know! That sucks about the training for sure, my hubby is an electrician but can't do that work up here without first taking the program up here, what he knows down there, he can't sure here but they should give them exemption credits or something if they already know a thing or two about the career path they choose.
hey there sis.....i sure do agree with you on that...they should set up some type of credit system to give foreigners some exemption credit for there skill so they dont have to waste alot of time going back to school for the trade that they already know...

yes sis.......it sure is very sad that is what going on in canada.....yes a job is a job but look at all the time and effort they ppl put into there education back home...canada need to recognize these ppl skill and education......because i know if a person come to jamaica with some skill they would do good out here with it......the only thing that is wrong here is that when you work and it time to get pay they want to owe you money tell you that business is slow or they want to pay you piece piece of money...this is why most of the jamaican ppl try to work for themself thank work for someone..
